The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes. This leader develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

Responsibilities

Implements and maintains engineering objectives and initiativesDevises short and long term capital investment strategyDevelops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendorsSupports production in reducing / eliminating equipment and tooling downtime or scrap, utilizing good analytical methodologiesCreate and maintain Process Flow, PFMEA, Standard Operating Procedures and Line Balance documentationShares best practices solutions with other Masonite sitesAssures product and process quality by designing testing methods; tests finished- product and process capabilities; establishes standards; confirms manufacturing processesMaintains error-proofing methodologies and shop floor layout enhancements and update master CAD layoutsSupports department or maintenance projects / activities with good engineering directionFacilitates process/continued improvement through Lean and Six Sigma methodologiesCost estimates and documents all engineering changesProvides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirementsFollows through with outside contractors and vendors to ensure that installation of new equipment, repairs existing equipment and any and all work performed is satisfactory before the contractor or vendor is released from liabilityPrepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trendsAssists in the implementation of capital and related improvements operating projects

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Must have an understanding of PLC programming and troubleshooting as well as TPM program experienceWorking knowledge of manufacturing/mechanical processes and technology equipmentAbility to perform capacity studies, analysis and process improvementsPC proficiency including MS Office; AutoCAD proficiencyAbility to take initiative on a wide range of project activities and situationsAbility to clearly and concisely communicate both verbally and in written formStrong time management skillsMust be able to handle various issues simultaneously and prioritizeDemonstrated ability to interact with all levels of project personnel and to work effectively in a diverse workforceExperienced and demonstrated ability to engage cross-functional teamsAbility to manage workload with flexibility and close attention to detailExperience with implementing and managing capital projects desiredSelf-driven, accountable, high integrity, open communicator, strong work ethic

Qualifications

4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering7+ years of experience in a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering positionProject management experience requiredLean Manufacturing certification desired
