Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary:

 

Our client in San Diego, CA is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer. This is a direct hire position.

 

Responsible for reviewing engineering drawings, electronic CAD models, specifications and providing instructions for manufacture, rework, or repair of composite, sheet metal aircraft components/assemblies through the ERP system and additional supporting software.Use Catia and GD&T skills to drive the quick development of great products.

·       Serves as a project manager to ensure that contract requirements, specifications, design criteria and schedule performance are integrated and maintained.

·       Document manufacturing instructions for the fabrication, machining, inspection, assembly, and paint of composites and metal components and assemblies.

·       Construct Item Masters (IM’s) and bill-of-materials (BoMs) in ERP software.

·       Develop IPD and XOP drawings to assist manufacturing and supply chain in procurement of parts and services.

·       Generate instructions for rework or repair of non-conforming materials.

·       Provide support with engineering clarification and interpretation.

·       Implement redlines to manufacturing plans for correction or clarification.

·       Develop and implement technical solutions for Laminate/Sandwich Composite and Metal Bond processing through lay-up, curing, machining, assembly, and finishing.

·       Generate CAD geometry for CAM programming and tooling.

·       Generate and coordinate Non-Destructive Test (NDT) reference standard manufacturing plans and technique sheets with RW North NDT Level II.

·       Coordinate and communicate with customer or supplier engineering to resolve technical questions or issues.

·       Lead First Part Qualification activities related to composite and metal bond parts.

·       Coordinates to provide technical guidance for continuous improvement activities to improve quality, cost and schedule.

·       Mentor and train less experienced engineers

Qualifications:

·       10+ years knowledge of Boeing manufacturing specifications, techniques and processes for aircraft components specifically composites fabrication, honeycomb sandwich panel fabrication, metal bonding and assembly.

·       Experience conducting processor qualification activities with Boeing or other OEM required.

·       Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) SAP or Net Suite strongly preferred.

·       Experience with CATIA V or Solidworks CAD & PLM systems

·       Highly organized with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

·       Solves complex problems and exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

·       Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal skills to drive tasks to completion.

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
