Donaldson is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Plant Engineering team. In this engineering role, you will participate and/or lead the creative process to discover and develop new manufacturing processes which will be utilized to safely, efficiently and effectively deliver our products to market.
Role Responsibilities:
Provide process & controls leadership and technical support for custom automation projects.
Conceive, validate, & recommend new or upgraded equipment and process methods, which will advance our global manufacturing and product leadership position.
Perform machine electrical design including developing electrical drawings, producing/updating control panel layouts, and producing bills of materials.
Develop, configure, debug, and deploy PLCs, and HMIs programs.
Research and recognize reliable technologies which can be successfully applied to unique filter manufacturing challenges.
Monitor equipment design and build, conduct equipment acceptance testing, and be a central part of factory installation and debugging.
Demonstrate problem solving methodologies during equipment commissioning and debugging.
Champion knowledge transfer and training on new processes and equipment.
Develop and train Donaldson technicians to resolve process and controls related machine problems.
Participate with multidisciplinary teams to understand how process & machine controls design may affect the product quality.
Utilize basic knowledge of Ergonomics, Safety procedures and machine-operator interaction to create an environment with minimal risk.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical and controls systems in an operational environment.
Focus to successfully complete projects on time and within budget.
Communicate effectively with vendors and internal cross-functional teams.
Inspire others with positive attitude and innovated/creative thinking.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior internship/co-op
Experience in electrical/robotic/controls/AutoCAD engineering.
Discrete manufacturing, web handling, or converting experience.
Experience using AutoCAD Electrical for industrial control panel design.
Experience in applying of UL508A, OSHA, and applicable NFPA codes.
Experience with motion control, variable speed drives, and pneumatics.
Design of the safety related parts of the control system.
Experience performing electrical design of custom control panels.
Strong experience with programming automation controls is a plus.
