Manufacturing Engineer

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis, the global leader in Raman spectroscopy, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS), and quenched fluorescence (QF) instrumentation for laboratory, process, and manufacturing environments. Our laser-based analyzer systems perform high-performance chemical composition and concentration measurement of all phases of matter in any installation environment.
What is the role about?
The Manufacturing Engineer is part of the Manufacturing Engineering team, which is responsible for the development, improvement, and support of manufacturing processes for optical based gas analytical equipment. The Manufacturing Engineer is a key contributor in the department by:
Developing and improving production systems (Up to 80% of time allocation)Process Flow DefinitionEquipment & tooling design and selectionProcess qualificationWork Instructions & Process documentationProcess Safety enhancementsSuggesting design improvements for manufacturability or other benefitProduction Support (Up to 50% of time allocation)Technical support and training of production personnel (operators and technicians)Troubleshooting and other technical support
Which essential functions will you perform?
Continuous process improvement and developmentUse tools from LEAN, Six Sigma, etc. to identify waste and improve safety, yield, throughput, measurement uncertainty and costs in manufacturing operations.Transfer designs and applications from design engineering into production. Taking slow, manual manufacturing methods and translating these into high-speed, simple, and exact processes for production personnel to execute. Working cross functionally with other groups to determine and establish acceptable production specifications.Provide floor support for production team members and existing production stations.Work with R&D, Engineering, Quality and Production to identify the root causes of problems and implement appropriate solutions to prevent reoccurrence.Create and implement manufacturing lines, stations, and tools in a production environment with complete procedures for production team.Review design drawings for accuracy and manufacturability.Support Quality System and Material Control ERP system improvements.Train and mentor production staff on specific processes and production equipment.Assist in the development of alternate product designs and materials.

What qualifications are needed?
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent related education with direct work experience.Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing with a demonstrated record of achievement in process improvement projects.Experience with complex electro-mechanical systems.Experience with releasing new product from R&D and Engineering to Production.Experience in LEAN manufacturing, including Kaizen and 5S.Ability to design and construct tooling and fixtures.Safety mindset to follow and develop procedures to maintain a safe working environment.Strong communication skills to interface with engineers, production operators and management.Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and organizational skills to set and manage priorities.Excellent computer skills including experience with MS Office.What qualifications are desired?
Electronics knowledge, including O-scope, Meter, D/A, A/D, RS-232, Ethernet, Imbedded Firmware, Imbedded Electronics including some analog and digital.Experience working with compressed gasses (flammable, inert, toxic).Gas phase spectroscopy experience. Experience with optical systems including lenses, windows, mirrors, alignments, and coatings. Experience with AutCAD and SolidWorks is desired.Experience with VB with office tools and LabView or Python is a plus.What can you expect from us?
