Job Summary

Covering NPI and Sustaining Production, the Manufacturing Engineer role requires a deep technical knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly, DFM and problem solving of process, product, and material variation. As part of the Operations team, you would be responsible for ensuring the required assembly processes, fixtures and documentation are designed, developed, deployed, maintained to ensure Teledyne FLIR’s Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) and payloads are built according to defined standards and specifications to ensure high quality products every time. We are looking for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, can work autonomously, and can successfully influence the product design to optimize manufacturing quality, cost, and delivery.

Detailed Description

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will:

Lead design for manufacturing (DFM) requirements by engaging all internal and third parties to provide solutions that focus on product quality, cost and deliveryLead process development for NPI (New Product Introduction) and sustaining production in Waterloo and at our outsourced locations, including technology/process transfer activities to outsourced locationsFacilitate and conduct root cause corrective actions (RCCA) investigations into issues from suppliers, process, or design and analyze field returns for improvement opportunitiesWork with the manufacturing team to define the process flow and resolve bottlenecksDefine assembly process tooling requirements and manage qualification plan of vendorsWork with Engineering to resolve design issues that impact manufacturing yield and qualityDesign and deploy assembly fixtures to reduce operator assembly waste and variationProvide mentoring and coaching to other team membersOther duties as assigned

Preferred Skills/Experience:

Mechanical Diploma or equivalent5+ years of experience in the electronics manufacturing industryBroad knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processesExperience in troubleshooting electro-mechanical assembliesAbility to communicate and quantify issues clearly and conciselyExperience with mechanical design and associated tools an assets
