Summary – basic function of the role We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Cramlington, Northumberland on a permanent basis. In this role, you will be responsible for optimisation of production processes and procedures, leading productivity improvements projects, active role in new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduce waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs. Job Duties and Responsibilities Work with colleagues in Operations, Procurement, Quality and Engineering in a precision CNC machining and assembly environment Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing product workflow, space requirements and equipment layout Work with Design Engineering to assure designs fit the best manufacturing processes. Request engineering changes to reduce costs, improve quality or decrease manufacturing times Work closely with the Production team to continuously improve and standardize current processes to reduce operating costs Maintain and create item master data including bills of materials and product routing integrity. Generate and maintain production documentation such as assembly instructions and standard work methods to ensure product and process quality meets specification Investigate and troubleshoot process problems as they occur and take necessary corrective & preventative actions Identify equipment needs and further investigate and assist with preparation of capital equipment justifications Follow the published processes and comply with all company policies and procedures. Be an ambassador for the businesses and ensure that Health & Safety comes first at all times Skills and Competencies Highly analytical with strong data collection and analysis skills to drive decision making. Be an effective team member, working with supervisor and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output Assertive, resilient and welcomes change Good communication and interpersonal skill Education and Experience Engineering degree is required, with a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering preferred Experience of 1 year minimum in manufacturing/machining processes Hands on experience in a CNC machining and assembly workshop environment Experience of process improvement within a Lean environment would be a plus Work Benefits 25 days annual leave plus statutory days Employer Pension Contribution Life Assurance Company Bonus Scheme Engagement with Employee Resource Groups which can provide leadership and networking opportunities.
