What You Will Do
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be working with Design Engineers and Suppliers to ensure production of high quality, consistent parts for grade control installations. The focus is on installation parts - cables/harnesses/brackets/kits - that use a domestic and international supply base. You will build relationships with suppliers, review their quality documents, and manage communication, and resolve issues between suppliers and design engineers.
Understand manufacturing methods and guide engineers on best practicesConduct DFM/RR (Design for Manufacturing/Ramp Readiness) reviews with suppliersReview supplier PFMEAsAssist with dual sourcing/re-sourcing activities as well cost reductionsAssist with onboarding new suppliersSubject matter expert in FA (first article)Review supplier PPAPs and control plansUnderstand OEM requirements and oversee the preparation of documentation to meet those requirements for installation parts (PPAP, other)Initiate/manage PCN (Production Change Notification) process for manufacturer requested changesCreate and review validation plans for manufacturing changesUnderstand end of line test/inspection process and analyze yield information to improve yields/reduce defectsFacilitate root cause analysis for quality issues attributed to suppliersAssist with return parts failure analysisWhat Skills & Experience You Should Bring
Hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Agricultural/Electrical Engineering or relevant experienceEffective written and oral communication skillsAbility to communicate with people in multiple geographic locations including flexibility to sometimes work early mornings or evenings to attend meetingsAbility to schedule and meet deadlinesAbility to understand and oversee details needed to manufacture a projectPassion for creating and improving processesEnthusiasm and interest in work on and around construction machineryAdditional Experience Desired
Facilitating and reviewing PFMEA’s, control plans, DFMs and process flows with suppliersPPAP experienceMetal fabrication experienceCable/Harness manufacturing experienceExperience with GD&TExperience with Creo or other solid modelling packageAdvanced experience with MS Excel or Google SheetsAbout Trimble

About Our CTCT Division
The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning and control products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GPS, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance.
