Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer’s primary role is to support the decorating and manufacturing processes. This position provides a link between R&D and Manufacturing by providing both manufacturing and decorating expertise during concurrent development of new products, product graphics and changes to existing products/product graphics.
Primary Responsibilitis:
Provide technical guidance to Manufacturing for pad and screen-printing equipment, preparations of supplies and printing components like screens and plates. Support new product development, SAP/Mattec setup and BOM/Route setup/changes utilizing the PAF process. Work with Marketing/Graphics personnel to get graphics for new products, assign and log a graphic number and make screen separations and laminated copies for personnel to reference. Print sample products on pad printers or screen printers and send to Marketing as needed for approval of printed graphics. Adjust graphics as requested after sample review by Marketing personnel. Route inks and other associated decorating chemicals for approval before use and for proper disposal methods. Select equipment, submit Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) as needed and follow through with implementation, validation and training on the equipment to ensure project deadlines are met. Support SEAL and PEAK programs. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Experience in plastic injection and blow molding, manufacturing/automation processes and decorating processes/equipment preferred. Knowledge of plastic injection and blow molding, assembly operations, and decorating methods/equipment. Skilled in the use of Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat and Creative Software. Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information. Ability to organize and coordinate activities across functional departments. Skilled in communicating effectively (verbal, written, listening) with a variety of individuals. Skilled in use of personal computer, related Microsoft office applications and SAP ERP system. Skilled in prioritizing, organizing, and managing multiple projects.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand/walk up to 50% of the shift and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to frequently bend and twist and have unrestricted use of upper extremities.
