Position Overview
Engineering Assistant is responsible for working with the local engineering team to assist with initiatives as they pertain to improvements of operation and production processes. Responsible for supporting Production area, participation with calibration/maintenance, troubleshooting process issues, diagnosing device/equipment failures, and implementing process improvements. Participates in technical diagnostics, problem solving of issues, and change implementation. Possesses a high sense of urgency and can quickly prioritize needs that have a critical impact to production. Follows all compliance/regulatory requirements and takes part in CAPA and audit action plan execution, as needed.

Lead by example living our core operational values: Listen, Challenge, Transform, Care and Commit. Develop oneself to obtain a robust understanding of production procedures and tasks, including 3D printing of production components, electric assembly of devices, service and repair activities, shipping, and electrical/acoustical testing.Collaborate on new equipment/process implementation, and execution of improvements on existing equipment/processes. Represent Manufacturing Engineering Team to other teams in operations, serving as a liaison for process improvements, production activities, and data acquisition of failure modes and device/process analysis.Participate in deploying facility layout changes, as required.Lead and oversee rework efforts, as required.Perform quality checks on devices.Identify and drive improvement efforts to support cost, quality, delivery, and safety initiatives.As needed, collect and trend data on returned product and process failures, and provide recommendations to engineering team on process improvements to address root causes.Proactively identifies growth and development opportunities within their role both technical and professional and drives for continual improvement.Other duties as assigned.Competencies (Knowledge and Skills needed for this position.)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required, including data acquisition and analysis. Excellent communication and people skills required.Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports.Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Desired Qualifications
Required Education:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience and knowledge.

Understanding of LEAN methodologies and applying such tools to operations. Hearing or medical device experience 1-3 years of equipment experience in a production environment with assembly Electronic assembly, firmware management, 3D printing systems, UV cure systems, acoustical test systems, laser marking 1-3 years of experience working in a regulated environment (i.e. ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA QSR) Experience with data acquisition/analysis, and demonstrated ability for fact-based decision-making leveraging analytics
Travel:
Limited travel as needed by project. 0-1 weeks annually.Direct reports: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Indirect reports: N/A
Working Environment: Office and light assembly operations.
Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, walking and support of assembly operations. Some heavy lifting or strenuous activity.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Full time position during normal business hours which may include some limited after production hours support.

Pay Transparency Notice:
Depending on your work location, the target hourly rate for this position can range from $22.00 - $27.00. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. Compensation for roles at GN depend on a wide array of factors including but not limited to location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
