Job Description:
Position Title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Location: Moses Lake, WA
Reporting to: Sr Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for leading the local Manufacturing Engineering team in supporting existing and future product lines.
Oversee the process of defining scope, developing concepts, establishing the plan and executing the build, test and implementation of manufacturing equipment.
Plan and lead the installation and sequencing of machines, workstations, tools, parts and supplies to optimize the efficiency of the production process.
Manage multiple projects at various stages at any time.
Mange direct reports and work as part of a project team; delegating responsibilities and following up with other team members in the group to achieve the plan.
Guide or coach Engineers in preparing engineering process documentation.
Coordinates with stakeholders to develop improvement plans which support established manufacturing methods, practices, and designs.
Uses Terex Business System tools to gather information on current state conditions (cycle time, lead time, scrap rate, test results, etc.).
Analyzes that data to show gaps in performance which need closing.
Researches and analyzes design proposals against Design for Manufacturability (minimize waste in production processes and reduce cost).
Applies statistical measures to estimate future manufacturing requirements.
Assists Design and Project Engineers, external customers, and manufacturing team members to resolve product level issues from production.
Participates with Design Engineers to discuss and evaluate new product design or re-design and manufacture.
Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
Required Qualifications
B.S. Degree in Engineering (ABET certified): Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or Industrial is strongly preferred. Other degrees will be considered with appropriate experience.
Prior experience in project management is required. This experience may include NPD and large scale/scope engineering change for current products.
Minimum of 5 years engineering experience.
Minimum 1 year of direct supervisor experience required, engineering/technical team preferred.
Background in developing production processes: experience with machine tools, fixture design, manufacturing processes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation methods.
Preferred Qualifications
Specialized professional knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of mechanical or industrial engineering in an industrial environment.
Working knowledge of Solidworks, AutoCad or equivalent programs.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated teamwork.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Excellent planning and time management skills.
Technical writing skills sufficient to prepare product specifications, test, and process documentation.
Ability to problem solve using statistical analysis and critical thinking skills.
Hands on experience with CNC equipment such as Lathes and Mills (Programming, Optimizing, troubleshooting, etc.).
Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics, blueprints.
Demonstrated ability to convert engineering principles into actionable project plans.
Prior knowledge and good understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time, and Total Quality Management.
4 + years of experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
Manufacturing process experience with one or more of following: hydraulics, steel, fabrication, electrical, powertrain.
Ambulatory ability to walk and stand on a continuous basis; to bend, stoop, and kneel on an intermittent basis; to lift medium weight objects up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $145,000 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
