Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Desford, Leicestershire
Full Time: 37.50
The Opportunity
Are you someone who can inspire change and innovation? We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager who is ready to dive straight in! You will coach and support a team of Engineers, Technicians and apprentices developing manufacturing processes, tooling and tool design, and equipment necessary to successfully and economically produce Caterpillar’s world class Compact Wheel Loaders.
As Manufacturing Engineering Manager, your accountabilities will include, but are not limited to:
Overseeing manufacturing engineering teams and developing the personnel that perform and support the plant operating functions.
Monitor and report on project health, including issue management to ensure People, Quality, Velocity and Cost targets are achieved.
Facilitate the development of manufacturing process solutions work with functional teams, using a range of tool e.g. process flows, PFMEA’s, control plans. Promote lean and quality as a focus within the business.
Project management – Full scope, development, budgets, resources and management of NPI or Improvement projects (Technology/Efficiency/Quality) from initiation to production and program completion.
Leading tool design, assembly, manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, etc.
Managing development, implementation and continual improvement of the operating methods, equipment, systems and other operating infrastructure used to realize operating goals.
Leading the installation of new machines and equipment and process changes to provide the most efficient and economical manufacture or assembly of quality parts.

What You Can Demonstrate:
Extensive Experience in
Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, budgets and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project targets.
Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Expert Level In
Judgment and Decision Making: Knowledge of process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.
Problem Management Process - MFG: Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution
Building Successful Teams: Proven ability to coach and support high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and drive continuous improvement
Experience Of
Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, fundamentals and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
What You May Have:
Good understanding of building and construction equipment Assembly, Test or Finish processes and production
Working knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter would be advantageous.
Experience of driving quality concern resolution with tools such as 8D, 5why, fishbone diagrams and other appropriate quality tools
6 Sigma project experience.
Degree or equivalent experience
