Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to join the Power, Data and Control/ Power Access and Control Team in Reno, NV. Under general supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineering Technician will support the manufacturing process through equipment assembly/setup/maintenance, tool room support, and manufacturing documentation creation. Manufacturing Engineering Technician is an entry level position that also uses their creativity and practical knowledge to optimize best practices throughout production. This position will provide technical assistance to the Manufacturing Engineers to develop practical solutions for manufacture, test, or improve company products. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will ensure that all assigned duties are performed quickly, efficiently, and according to the established departmental and company policies, procedures, and goals. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician, as with all members of the Server Technology Team, is expected to promote a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercise confidentiality.

What Will You Do?

 

• Distribute and receive parts, tools, and equipment to employees.
• Ensure tool room items are documented and accounted for.
• Update tool room database to ensure accuracy of items.
• Identify, maintain, and track the location of each part and tool in the organization.
• Organize and maintain parts and equipment in the tool room.
• Maintain inventory of and familiarity with hazardous materials.
• Update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all hazardous materials.
• Identify all spare parts inventory with labeling and database records.
• Uphold familiarity with EPA compatibility chart for hazardous material and conduct proper procedures for disposing hazardous waste.
• Assemble and maintain tooling and fixtures required for manufacturing processes.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of manufacturing processes and documentation.
• Assist in ESD equipment testing.
• Assist with new product introduction initiatives throughout Operations both at the contract manufacturers and STI.
• Support resolution of Bill of Materials and routing errors in Company ERP systems.
• Generate Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs) and complete MCO implementations according to established processes, providing implementation requirements and due dates.
• Assist and support Manufacturing Engineers in various projects.
• Perform time studies to assist in the establishment of labor and assembly time standards.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives in Manufacturing Engineering.
• Participates in both internal and external audits.
• Promote positive company user relations by projecting a courteous, helpful attitude and assisting employees when appropriate.

Qualifications

Required Skills

 

Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) supplemented by college level Electronics Technician coursework; Associate’s Degree in Industrial Electronics or related field, preferred; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience:
2 years manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume production environment is preferred.

 

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:


• Basic electrical understanding/knowledge.
• Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Self-management skills including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks.
• Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company including Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and Purchasing.
• Strong attention to detail and organization/planning skills and the ability to work independently.

Desired Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• 2D and 3D CAD Design experience.
• Familiarity of ISO 9000 standards and audit process.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Work environment is fast-paced and priorities can shift quickly. All employees are expected to go outside their primary responsibilities when required, and multi-task job duties on a regular basis. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
