Purpose
This role aligns Metallus’s project management organization (PMO) with a lean manufacturing and continuous improvement culture within the overarching vision and mission of the enterprise. This role will involve identifying, leading, and mentoring projects within our manufacturing processes as well as services, processes, and other areas supporting or directly touching our product or manufacturing areas.
This role includes involvement with project selection, project optimization, and the ability to be a supporting mentor to project leaders of continuous improvement projects to 1. accurately define the project scope, 2. application of optimum measuring techniques, 3. enhancing analytical strategies, 4. creating visibility of implementation, and 5. the establishment of control. Responsibilities will include managing and mentoring the communication of projects to promote synergies into other areas within the company and supporting our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The current CMMS is Maximo.

Responsibilities
Manage and mentor projects to improve manufacturing processes and other areas supporting or directly touch our products or manufacturing areas. These projects will, at times, require statistical analysis to confirm understanding of various process data results including cost, operational efficiency, and yield. Lead projects to completion through monitoring and control to realize the value being captured. Support other steel business continuous improvement efforts as needed, which is expected to included managements of change for new or revised procedures, practices, and processes. A continuous pursuit of improving velocity of our activities and tangible assets, and reduce our life cycle cost while improving our ability to manage our cash. Receive instruction and guidance of CMMS projects that improve manufacturing processes from the Asset Management Council and validate accuracy of Maximo data. This role may include coding / modifications within Maximo to improve its functionality. Work as a liaison to IT when process changes are required within Maximo that require external support. Ability to conduct high level situational analysis to determine root cause, the value in correcting the root cause, and the mitigation of risk towards the optimum acceptable risk for reoccurrence. Correlates the progress of initiatives and their gaps as they influence multiple organizational swim lanes, striving towards a centralized and overarching mission of success for the enterprise. Take a leadership role in CMMS SME meetings, indicating what is being worked on, priorities, and risks.
Technical Skills
Ability to communicate in clear and efficient manner internally, externally and to the shop floor Ability to Organize Workflows to meet imposed deadlines and priorities Ability to conduct minor troubleshooting with a CMMS (Maximo) and help external resources build, maintain, and support the application and technical infrastructure. Understanding of lean manufacturing disciplines and different forms of standardization Ability to manage technical priorities and resources Project management skills Knowledge of CMMS infrastructure and SOX requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Associate of Computer Science, Engineering, or Engineering Technology with at least 9 years of experience in continuous improvement, data analysis, or project management within manufacturing. Bachelor of Computer Science, Engineering, or Engineering Technology with at least 7 years of experience in continuous improvement, data analysis, or project management within manufacturing.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate of Computer Science, Engineering, or Engineering Technology with at least 14 years of experience in continuous improvement, data analysis, or project management within manufacturing or finance. Bachelor of Computer Science, Engineering, or Engineering Technology with at least 12 years of experience in continuous improvement, data analysis, or project management within manufacturing or finance. Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional.
