Description

An engineer, preferably in the Industrial Engineering discipline, with good communication skills to work in standard labor analysis and Lean Manufacturing. Responsibilities may include:Evaluation and implementation of workstation layouts compliant with strike zone methodologyMaterial flow design from dock door to point of useDevelopment of process tools for the teamDocumenting current processes and line balancing activitiesParticipation in CI workshops as a contributing team memberSupport of key business initiatives and core projectsUnique Challenges include: Balancing multiple requirements from differing internal functional groups, learning to develop macros to assist in standard document development, understanding how to apply our core standards in a variety of OEM products and plant constraints

Duties:

This role may supportMaterial flow planning for new model year launchDirect labor CI activities and line rebalancesErgonomic workstation improvementsProcess tool development for the Lean ME teamNew material flow equipment testing and implementationNew model year layout change implementationSimulation data collectionThis role may require travel both within and outside of Michigan to visit our manufacturing plants

Other position requirements:

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university and working towards a 4 year B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Industrial Engineering.Available to work up to 40 hours per week during program (May 1 – Aug 30)Minimum overall GPA of at least 3.0.Previous internship or co-op experience in automotive related position an added plusAutoCAD experience is an added plus.Experience developing macros is an added plus.Solid analytical skills and work effectively with plant and corporate teams.Strong verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail, organization skills and follow upProficient in MS Office
