Manufacturing Internship

 

About the role.

 

McCain Food has 8 large-scale food processing plants in the US and employs over 2800+ individuals. Each site specializes in the production of a variety of McCain products. This internship will assist the Operations and Continuous Improvement teams develop key document control systems and line improvement studies.

 

After initial training, you will be building critical business processes and document control systems. The normal schedule is eight hours per day, five days per week, but you may be required to work other shifts and weekend hours as needed. Candidates should have a strong interest in manufacturing and/or business management.

 

The internship is an opportunity to join a McCain Manufacturing Team and gain valuable manufacturing technical knowledge and essential leadership experience. The manufacturing interns are provided with cross-functional experience from “farm to fork” within the product life cycle to learn all aspects of the manufacturing process. You will learn about food manufacturing operations, strategic projects and initiatives, internal and external communications, teamwork, work with a purpose, and careers with McCain!


Accountabilities:

Collect and share informationAssemble and produce compelling content about operations activities – pictures, illustrations, messages, videos, best practices, testimonies, stories, quantified resultsCommunicate regularly with facility employees in all job classificationsSupport shared learnings and dissemination of results internally and externallyParticipate and lead continuous improvement projectsGather data relevant to current and future process and engineering initiativesMake regular recommendations to the plant leadership team regarding initiatives and improvementsPresent overall progress against assigned projects on a monthly basis

 

Qualifications:

Currently pursuing your bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, production, management, or related functionMath knowledge, including CalculusProficiency with the Excel and MS OfficeBe able to use measurement tools after initial training correctlyFollow company policy for job safetyMust be able to lift 35lbs and stand on your feet for your shiftMust be at least 18 years of age

 

Skills:

Interest in manufacturing or engineeringSystematic approach to problem-solvingMath knowledge, including CalculusStrong communication skills at all levels of the organization.

 

About the team.

The intern will be part of the operations team at the manufacturing facility, working directly with Plant Leaders. The plant provides a supportive team that will encourage you to do your best and provides a safe and flexible working environment that promotes work/life balance.

Hybrid

Compensation Package: $23.00 - $26.00 USD hourly

 

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
