The Internship Program - May 2025 Start Date

Manufacturing is at the heart of what we do at Whirlpool Corporation. Our Manufacturing Leadership Development Program (MLDP) focuses on World Class Manufacturing methodology, and internship experiences and projects could be in areas such as lean manufacturing, quality, materials, and many more. 

Upon successful completion of the summer internship program, you may be considered for employment opportunities within the Full Time Manufacturing Leadership Development Program post-graduation.
 

Your day-to-day

Intern project assignments are  focused on our World Class Manufacturing methodology and could be in areas such as:

Manage equipment / resource relocation projects which could include: redesign of current equipment or resources, working with suppliers to identify new equipment options and leading change management with impacted team membersDesign, develop, review and conduct coordination for test programs or components, small systems or processes, or materials taking into account customers, product performance, cost and quality requirements Lead scrap reduction initiatives, including project scope and timeline development, problem solving with suppliers, establishing standardized solutions and implementing changesFocus on cost-savings initiatives across a plant including: standardized work audits, Improving first pass yield and throughput, etc. Learn and apply Lean Manufacturing tools to project(s)
 Minimum requirements Pursuing bachelors degree with major in: Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical or Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Operations/Operations Management, or Related AreaCurrent cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higherMust have indefinite US work authorization. Applicants who require visa sponsorship or work authorization now or in the future are not eligible for this program.

Program location

This internship will take place at one of our North American plant locations in Ohio, Iowa, Tennessee, Oklahoma, or Massachusetts. 

These sites produce a full line of appliances including refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, and KitchenAid portables.
