This is a 32 hour FTE position. Salary and benefits will be pro-rated accordingly.
Position Summary
Thales requires a CNC Machinist responsible for operating all machine shop machinery. As a CNC Machinist, you are capable of operating: CNC Milling machine, CNC Lathe, Manual lathe, Manual milling machine, surface grinders, and assortment of hand tools. You will also have an understanding of Master-Cam or relevant CAM software. Finally, you will work closely with engineering production teams on equipment improvement/development.
Key Areas of Responsibility
* Perform machining of components provided by engineering team. Generate list of manufacturing process steps and setups to fabricate machine parts.
* Generate tool paths for CNC machines using Master CAM. Review and collaborate with engineering on drawing/model errors and opportunities for improvement.
* Use precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, grinder, band saw, push and pull broaches and a variety of cutting tools.
* Fabricates and shapes parts such as: punch tools, tooling plates, fixtures and machined components. Capable of measuring all GD&T tolerances using appropriate metrology equipment.
* Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
* Study sample parts, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate.
Minimum Qualifications
* Understanding and ability to troubleshoot and repair the following types of systems: CNC & manual milling machine, CNC & manual lathe, bandsaws, drill presses, 3d printers, surface grinders, . Training as required will be provided.
* Fully skilled time served engineer/tool maker with CNC milling experience
* Used to working to precision tolerances on a variety of materials.
* Able to interpret engineering drawings.

Special Position Requirements
Physical Environment:
* 8 Hour shift(s)
* 3 or 4 days a week.
* Occasional overtime may be required
* Standing for long periods of time
* Lifting up to 40 pounds on a regular basis using a pushing and pulling motion on an intermittent basis
