Catalent, in Baltimore & Harmans, Maryland, provides industry-leading GMP development and manufacturing services for cutting-edge biopharmaceuticals such as recombinant viral vectors, next generation vaccines & hard-to-express recombinant proteins and oncolytic viruses.

The Manufacturing Materials Manager will develop and lead a team responsible for managing the total inventory in the production clean room spaces for clinical and commercial production; the team includes internal (clean room) material support associates (IMSA) on day and night shifts and data stewards on day shift.  The objective of the Manufacturing Materials Manager is to build and improve the systems to ensure world class inventory accuracy inside the production area.  S/he is fully accountable for all manufacturing inventory from time of transfer from warehouse through final manufacturing consumption and reconciliation fully utilizing the site ERP system. 

This position will closely interface with the Ready-to-Execute team, Production Scheduling, Material Control, Buyers, Costing, Manufacturing, Quality Raw Materials, MS&T, Project Management and Supply Chain leadership.

This is a full-time on-site position, M-F 8am-5pm

The Role:

Ensure all material is received from warehouse operations and follows a defined process from production staging to final consumption and reconciliation ensuring all physical moves are matched with an ERP transaction.Manage the manufacturing cycle count program working with production team and finance to resolve all inventory discrepancies.Establish a continuous improvement plan to achieve excellence in accordance with The Catalent Way (TCW); deploy the plan and coach others on the journey.Ensure processes are in place and executed such that eBR and ERP data are always synchronized.Manage the production replenishment systems (kanban) and serve as the escalation point for materials-related issues coming from the manufacturing team.Calculate and monitor changes to daily material consumption rates in manufacturing; feed the information to the supply chain team for maintenance of master data.Drive maximum utilization of the ERP system (JDE) for all MRP functions and inventory control.Contribute to the lifecycle management process to optimize manufacturing inventory, mitigate material expiration and reduce scrap.Prepare and modify SOPs and Work Instructions in support of continuous improvement.Represent manufacturing in the site SOP process.

The Candidate:

A minimum of 7 years of material planning or related Supply Chain experience.Experience in cGMP environment.  Pharma/Biotech/CMO preferred.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain, Business, or relevant/similar fieldDemonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to work with employees from associates to executives. Progressive leadership experience is required.Practical application of lean supply chain / manufacturing principles.Proficiency with ERP / MRP systems.  JDE desirable.Working knowledge of supply and inventory planning and S+OP.Must be organized, possess time management skills, and be able to manage ambiguity and changing priorities.Ability to develop processes and act as a change catalyst.Strong analytical, problem solving, communication skills and presentation skills.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Must be organized, possess time management skills, and be able to manage ambiguity and changing priorities.

The anticipated salary range for this position in Maryland is $118,000 to $155,000 plus annual bonus, when eligible.  The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
