As a Manufacturing Operator Wastewater Treatment Plant, you will: To operate, maintain, and conduct laboratory analysis of the onsite pretreatment wastewater plant in compliance with site environmental management system, federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, ISO 14000 requirements, and J&J Worldwide Environmental Practices. Responsibilities: + Operate the wastewater treatment plant and associated equipment to meet objectives detailed in various J&J Innovative Medicine operating procedures and government regulations. Properly operate pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment as detailed in various area procedures. + Operate the sludge wasting and dewatering system and associated equipment in compliance with standard operating procedures. + Coordinate process operations and material movement to ensure safe efficient operations. Manage classification of various materials and wastes to ensure proper handling and storage parameters are met. + Safely operate fork trucks in accordance with training provided by J&J Innovative Medicine. Properly operate material handling devices such as pallet carriers and conveying equipment. + Conduct laboratory analysis of the onsite pretreatment wastewater plant in accordance with operating permit and process control. + Coordinates with 3rd party to prepare and submit samples and documentation for off-site testing and analysis. Ensure receipt of results, verify compliance to our permit limits and compile monthly reports. Notifies appropriate parties if non-compliance is determined. + Visually inspects and tests equipment to detect malfunctions and diagnose problems or repairs equipment. Recognize "abnormal" operating or unsafe conditions and implement proper response, including notification of supervision. + Conduct minor and preventive maintenance on the facility equipment (process equipment, piping systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, instrumentation and controls). + Utilize computerized maintenance management system for work order and preventive maintenance entries and closures. + Maintains maintenance logs, part requisitions, preventive maintenance inspection records and other required maintenance documentation utilizing CMMS. + Keep accurate and up-to-date records of the wastewater treatment analyses, process control testing, tank levels, flow rates and hazardous waste inspection summaries. + Keep up-to-date on process and operation changes by reading logs, special procedures and posted notices. + Ensures compliance with Safe Work practices/permitting in handling of equipment, tools, chemicals and use of protective equipment. + Perform waste disposal activities for the site, to include proper handling, labelling, material storage, logging and packaging for shipment. Coordinates with 3rd party for all site hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal activities, ensuring transportation manifests are accurate and complete and within compliance with regulations. + Participate in internal and external audits and support additional team activities as required. + Perform area safety inspections to identify safety hazards and report findings in accordance with company protocols. + Participate on site investigative teams and where applicable, in VSAs, PSSRs, PHAs and behavioral safety assessments. Correct or mitigate findings from assessments. + Serve on various committees and teams to enhance operations at J&J Innovative Medicine as requested by supervision. + Be available for overtime work on a scheduled or emergency basis. Able to work rotating shifts with short notice. + Be available for other projects or assignments as requested by management. + Complete training programs required of the position or as requested by supervision. + Carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines including FDA, EPA, OSHA, DOT and DEA. Complies with all company and site policies and procedures. Including managing drum quantities and hazardous waste sludge shipments. + Understands and responsibly performs duties with attention to quality, safety and environmental matters. Items include; wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, recognizing, reporting and appropriately responding to hazards in the work area (spills/accidents/near misses), maintaining proper housekeeping at all times, properly labeling and storing chemicals, plus all other relevant job requirements. + Assume responsibility for the environmental effects of the work performed and for the identification and recording for environmental problems as they arise. + Follow all applicable aspects of the site Environmental Management System as it pertains to normal job duties. + Makes a significant positive contribution through demonstration of ability to improve upon current practices and systems and through ability to learn new skills, procedures and processes. **Qualifications** + High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree or equivalent technical education/training is preferred. + Minimum of 2 years of work experience within an industrial environment is preferred + Work experience with wastewater or water treatment operations is highly preferred. + Possession of a State of Georgia Class III Wastewater Operators License is highly preferred. + Must be able to achieve State of Georgia Class III Wastewater Operators License within 12 months of position start date. + Knowledge of government environmental regulations (EPA, OSHA & DOT), Process Safety Management standards, and company policies is preferred. + Basic PC navigation such as the ability to enter data into programs/software applications as instructed and use software applications for mail, word processing, spreadsheets and other job specific needs is required. + Knowledge of DCS and SAP systems is preferred. + Knowledge of manufacturing plant equipment and processes is required. + Performs repetitive work in a variety of duties while maintaining speed and sustained attention without a loss of production. + Able to perform under stress in cases of emergency, critical or dangerous situations is required. + Able to work with others in a team environment. + Takes initiative as problems and/or opportunities arise; is action oriented; does all that should be done, not only as directed + This position is located in Athens, GA.
