Responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paint, enamel, varnishes and other finishes using brushes, rollers and sprayers. Expertise required in mixing and matching pigment, oil, base and thinner in the right proportion to attain the desired outcome. Maintains a safe work area and may train apprentices in the trade.

Role and ResponsibilitiesPerform a variety of routine duties related to the painting, part loading, inspecting and packaging of components in accordance with specified customer requirements.Sand rework and clean dirt from product.Apply masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.Pour coating liquid into spray container and connects spray gun to an air hose.Adjust spray gun valves to regulate width and pressure of spray.Pull trigger and direct spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.Perform visual inspections of each part in order to ensure compliance with specified requirementsInform supervisor or quality department of any deviations and/or product specification problems.Properly dispose of all hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Pack and prepare finished assembled parts in appropriate containers and apply labels.Provide suggestions regarding continuous improvement activities relative to production processes and product quality.Observe all safety requirements and maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition. This includes but is not limited to product area, cleaning of equipment and general cleaning.Must be able to pass a respirator fit test.
