Manufacturing Supervisor

We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions. **Xylem's Manufacturing Supervisor (Sensus Water Meters) is responsible for administering plant management and supervisory policies and procedures at the shop floor level in order to achieve maximum utilization of people, equipment, and resources to ensure the highest standards in manufacturing, product quality and worker safety.** **Strong safety and business acumen; management skills including the ability to make decisions with minimal supervision** **Shift hours: 11:00PM to 7:00AM however; candidates must be flexible to work all shifts.** **We offer a full benefits package to include Flexible Time Off (FTO) , health, dental, vision, investment savings plan, and additional miscellaneous benefits.** **Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:** **People Leader: supervise 20-30 assigned Union (USW) employees in the daily performance of duties related to manufacturing output and department workload. Ensures manufacturing production plans are met on a daily basis.** **Works as a part of the Sensus management team to maintain and improve people, products, and processes. Works with staff support and other supervisors to optimize use of all available employees, equipment, and systems.** **Supervises and is responsible for employee training. Provides employees with adequate training to ensure quality and efficient production of product. Provides training to other supervisors as needed and directed.** **Comprehend Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI) Boards** **Execute continuous improvement opportunities using six sigma and lean methodologies to achieve business goals** **Responsible for the quality of work and productivity of assigned departments. Daily reviews on time deliveries, productivity, (standard hours), schedules, order input, etc.** **Ensures daily housekeeping is maintained within assigned department and surrounding areas. Promotes the use of sound and effective safety practices in the performance of all functions to maintain a safe working environment for all employees. Provides security support as needed to protect company assets.** **Responsible for ensuring all procedures, programs, standards, policies, rules etc. are adhered to.** **Issues discipline when warranted under the terms of the bargaining agreement or company rules and policies in a consistent manner. Maintains time and attendance records for union employees** **Operates PC based systems, including Microsoft Office, MES (ShopVue) or equivalent systems.** **Generates shop orders and schedule shop orders within production area to meet promised customer ship dates. Update and maintain weekly shop orders within department to support production plan.** **Provide support to the shop floor control system as needed to ensure production is reported accurately. Analyze and organize internally produced inventory within department.** **Works overtime as necessary to support employees, customer and company needs.** **Works with/assists Quality Control in identifying and resolving quality related issues. Implements corrective action as required to eliminate recurrence of issues. Ensures a quality product is being manufactured on-time and within resource/budget constraints. Focusses on the continuous improvement of all supervised areas.** **Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities** **Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:** **Associate degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in Business, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Electronics or other relevant manufacturing-related disciplines and four years of current direct experience supervising Union employees performing manufacturing-related duties** **-or-** **eight years of current direct experience supervising Union employees performing manufacturing-related duties.** **Strong business acumen and management skills including the ability to make decisions with minimal supervision** **Exceptional Safety leadership** **Hands-on experience in ISO, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement philosophies and techniques is preferred. Ability to implement LEAN and Safety initiatives as required.** **A high level of attention to detail and problem-solving skill will be necessary for success in this role.** **Strong computer skills are highly preferred and must include a working knowledge of and the ability to quickly learn BPCS, MMS, KRONOS, Workday, MES (ShopVue), Microsoft Office, and other software/programs necessary to perform this role.** **Scope: Must exhibit good organizational skills and perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization. Ability to gain and hold the respect of managers, peers and subordinates through a solid reputation built upon a positive, professional, and highly ethical leadership approach. Ability to train others and work independently in a team environment with minimal supervision. Ability and desire to work overtime (daily or weekend); weekend overtime can be mandatory.
