Job Description

An organization within Northrop Grumman’s Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division, Mission Enabling Products, is a leading designer, producer, and supplier of spacecraft components that power and enable satellites of all classes. Products include spacecraft panels, bus structures, precision optical structures, deployable structural systems and mechanisms, solar arrays, and antenna reflectors. The Space Deployables operating unit under MEP is seeking a qualified Manufacturing Technician 2 to assist with operations in general manufacturing to assemble precision electro-mechanical products such as gear train mechanisms, tooling structures and assembly products and devices specific to the Deployables OU. This position is based out of the Oxnard, CA site.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in assembly, set-up and calibration tasksPerforming rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assembliesPerform rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assembliesDetermines and assists in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing processWorks with engineers in conducting experimentsHandling and managing fragile composite materialsNotate usage, traceability, pot life, and out time controls on all adhesive materials usedReport data and interface with other employees and departmentsTooling preparation and release applicationUtilize measurement tools such as calipers, rulers, and tape measures for fabricating hardwareReading and understanding manufacturing blue prints and shop planningAssist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years additional education and/or manufacturing or mechanical experienceExperience working in a manufacturing environment (space/satellite structures, aerospace, Automotive, composite, industrial)Experience with composite bonding and electronic soldering Demonstrated Mechanical AbilityMust be a US CitizenAbility to lift/push/pull up to 40 poundsAbility to be on feet for up to various hours each day

Preferred Qualifications:

Able to read, write and work to written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawingsProficient use of basic shop arithmeticAbility to multitask, prioritizeExperience or familiarity with ISO requirements, standards, and compliance issuesMicrosoft Office skills (Word and Excel)Experience with cranes and rigging, forklifts, and similar manufacturing equipment

Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $83,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
