Manufacturing Technician

As a Manufacturing Technician, you will operate as part of a team within the Toolroom, You will be responsible for the Manufacturing and maintenance of the onsite kitting and tool trolleys. This role will utilise various workshop tools to complete tasks. **What You Will Do:** + Cutting various materials with chop saws, table saws and hand tools. + Drilling and fettling various materials + Follow documented dynamic risk assessments to perform safe and defect free assembly of parts and components, using various hand/power tools and lifting equipment provided in the work area. + Train/coach new Technician’s/Apprentices within the area. + Read drawings to manufacture a variety of fixtures and trolleys. + Follow and utilise Caterpillar Production System principles of continuous improvement reporting, waste elimination and standard work. + Participate in product / process improvement dialogues as required. + Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM). + Adhere to the company's Health & Safety policy and safe working practices. + Adhere to Caterpillar's Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork. + Undertake training and further learning as required. **About You:** + Demonstratable high level of assembly or mechanical aptitude and accuracy. + An experienced Technician with build experience within a workshop environment. + Able to operate saws and Drills (training will be provided). + Have a fully flexible approach to the job role & responsibilities (willing to work overtime). + The ability to read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions/procedures. + The ability to use hand/power tools and lifting equipment. + High level of attention to detail. + Able to work on your own initiative and be self-motivated. + You will possess effective communication skills to liaise with various levels of the organisation. + Good problem-solving skills, necessary to get to the root cause of issues. + Willing to undertake required training/learning. + Must be willing to work a multi-shift pattern. **You May Also Have:** + Previous experience using workshop tooling (chop saws, Table saws, Pillar drills etc). + Previous MIG/MAG weld experience desirable. + Relevant NVQ level 2/equivalent or higher. **Pending the number of applications, the criteria for the position may be enhanced to facilitate shortlisting.** **Job Title:** Manufacturing Technician **Contract:** Permanent **Salary:** £27,850 rising to £29,200 once competent **Benefits:** 27 days annual leave + bank holidays, Flexible Buy in Benefits such as Private Medical, Healthcare, Vison & Dental schemes, and more, Share Scheme (50% Company Matched), Contributory Pension Scheme (Contribution double by Company up to 10%), Free Car Parking, Caterpillar Advantage website **Location:** Desford, Leicestershire **Shifts:** This is a multi-shift position **Travel:** No travel **Closing Date:** 6th March **Job Reference:** R0000290617 **About Caterpillar** Caterpillar Inc. is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off highway diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.
