General Summary

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Marketing and Communications Intern to support our team in crafting compelling written and visual content, assisting in executing social media strategies, and maintaining organized communication workflows. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about storytelling, digital engagement, and brand building.

Essential Job AccountabilitiesUnderstand the key messages and direction of each deliverable and translate this information into compelling visuals to ensure easy understanding.Create storytelling using photography, videography, and text that accurately informs, entertains and engages our audience.Capture candid as well as posed images and video of Granite and client team members to support key messages.Conceive, edit, and produce high-quality and engaging short videos for social media and recruiting to highlight our teams and projects consistent with Granite’s mission and vision.Assist with uploading images and adding accompanying metadata into the Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems for use in newsletters, web copy, press releases, advertising, social media, blogs and presentations.Travel to job sites to capture photos and videos of projects and review photography, apply techniques to retouch, enhance and/or execute color correction to ensure the highest visual standard across all media platforms. 

Education

Candidate must be a current student or recent graduate majoring in photography, film, marketing and communications, or journalism (or a related field) at an accredited 4-year college or university.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Ability to maintain confidentiality at all timesStrong experience in shooting, editing, and producing high quality videosProficiency in multi-media formats, including print, video, and digital platformsSolid experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom) and graphic design capabilitiesStrong proficiency in selection and implementation of visual effects, music, and audioAttention to detail/accuracy, quick learner and internally motivated to seek out answers, generate ideas, and develop new skillsAbility to set priorities, organize work and work in high production environment while responding quickly and effectively under pressure, changing priorities and tight timelines/deadlinesStrong problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to provide creative solutions to real-time challenges with consistent follow throughAbility to work in creative and structured, process-driven environmentsDrone experience and pilot’s license is a plusKnowledge of After Effects is a plus

Physical Demands

Hourly employees may choose from two PPO medical plans through Anthem BlueCross, including our most popular plan, for which 100% of the premium is paid by Granite for eligible employees.  Employees can also opt into a Flexible Spending Account (FSA). 

 

As part of our investment in your future outside of the workplace, Granite provides a 100% match on the first 6% of eligible compensation that salaried employees defer into their 401(k) plans, which vests immediately. 

 

Projects with joint-venture agreements (JVs), benefits will be governed by those agreements. For positions covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBAs), the benefits will be governed by the applicable CBA. 

Benefits may vary for positions located outside of the continental United States. 

Base Hourly Wage Range

Hourly: $23.00 $25.00

Pay may vary based on relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.  Collective Bargaining Agreements will govern as applicable.
