Summary You will serve as a Marine Machinery Mechanic in the Antenna Repair Shop (67H) Electronics Repair Division (TRF-730), Weapons Repair Department (TRF-700), TRIDENT Refit Facility (TRIREFFAC), Kings Bay, Ga. Responsibilities You will maintain and repair a variety of submarine machinery, equipment, and components. You will perform depot level overhaul of assigned TRIPER components. You will reassemble and install machinery, equipment and components on submarines. You will provide various instructions involving system operation, safety, and repair procedures to co-workers. You will test and troubleshoot systems to ensure proper operational capability You will perform hydrostatic test operations including the necessary lifting, rigging, and crane operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION WG-10: Experience maintaining and repairing a variety of submarine machinery equipment and components by making repairs, refinishing worn or damaged parts, or removing items for repairs. Experience reassembling and installing machinery, equipment, and components on submarines and ensuring that machinery is aligned and adjusted for balance. Experience performing operational and functional tests and makes required adjustments to ensure proper operation of entire system. Experience performing quality control coordination, hydrostatic test operations, rigging, and crane operations association with testing masts, antennas, and communication buoys. WG-08: Experience reading blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals to understand the functions of the parts or systems to plan the lay out of the work and to aid in finding faulty parts or systems. Experience repairing techniques to be used including methods used in getting the right fits or tolerances. Experience adjusting, calibrating, and rebuilding or making parts. Experience testing and troubleshooting systems to ensure proper operational capability.
