Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Marine Consultant to join our team on a part-time basis. The Consultant will be responsible for providing guidance on naval design projects. Will offer expertise on naval systems and processes, and conducting in-depth research to support decision-making.
Key responsibilities:
+ Develop, review, and refine mechanical engineering drawings for marine and naval projects
+ Provide expert guidance on naval architecture, marine science, or mechanical engineering concepts
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical accuracy and project feasibility
+ Contribute to the design and optimization of marine vessels, structures, and systems
+ Assess maritime regulations and standards and ensure compliance in design and operations
+ Perform risk assessments, safety analysis, and failure analysis on projects
+ Conduct research, provide insights, and recommend improvements in alignment with industry best practices
+ Assist in solving technical challenges related to marine engineering processes
Qualifications to be successful in the role:
+ Expertise in the naval industry
+ Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Science, Naval Architecture, or Manufacturing Engineering
+ Experience in robotics and automation, systems engineering, marine electrical systems, marine propulsion, hull design, marine electronic systems, marine radar and satellite technology
+ A higher education level, such as a Master's or Doctoral degree, is preferred
+ Must have proven experience in naval architecture, marine engineering, or mechanical engineering
+ Proficiency in developing mechanical engineering drawings and interpreting technical designs
+ Open to PhD students or educators with relevant expertise who can commit to a part-time work
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
+ Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a consulting role
