Program Summary

The Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) is based in Jacksonville, Florida. We provide maintenance and logistic services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in support of this program.  For over 35 years we have planned, coordinated, and executed the maintenance and logistic services for ground combat vehicles and support equipment for USMC Expeditionary Forces.

Job Summary

Performs and documents inspections of Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) Improved Naval Lighterage System (INLS) powered and non-powered watercraft, LCM-8, Working boats and other related equipment to identify internal and external damage and/or deterioration of steel and aluminum watercraft hulls, structures, decks, compartments, hatches, piping, installed equipment, deck fittings and related machinery.

Roles and Responsibilities

Performs marine structural surveys in watercraft confined spaces, tanks, and voids.Analyzes structural and coatings surveys, U.S. Navy Technical Drawings, technical manuals, NAVSEA Standards, and other technical materials to determine location, material composition, technical specifications, and methods of repair. Assists and provides technical guidance to the Planner-Estimator in the development of work packages that document scope of repairs and system alterations on watercraft.Coordinates and performs technical reviews of draft work packages with government Quality Assurance Representatives.Periodically performs and documents quality assurance checks on subcontractors performing work on watercraft.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

A.S. degree in mechanical engineering or other related discipline. In lieu of a degree, a combination of college credits, other formalized training or education, and directly related work experience may be considered.Six (6) years of experience as a Marine Surveyor or U.S. Navy equivalent.Working knowledge of NAVSEA Standards and their application to U.S. Navy vessels.Working knowledge of typical U.S. Navy technical drawings, technical manuals, and maintenance records. Working knowledge of OMMS-NG is preferred.Working knowledge of marine hull and mechanical systems to include main propulsion, auxiliary, hydraulic systems, and air conditioning systems is preferred.Working knowledge and ability to perform work in confined spaces as defined by 29 CFR 1915, Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Shipyard Employment.This position requires a certified Competent Person. Current certification is preferred however, KBR will provide training during the first year of employment.Ability to access watercraft, working spaces, and confined spaces by frequent use of commercial extension ladders and watercrafts’ installed vertical ladders.Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.Effective written and oral communications skills.Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.This position requires access to DOD facilities and information systems.  Successful candidates must pass background checks to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card and access to facilities.U.S. Citizen.
