Marine Terminals Engineer
Total Number of Openings 1 About the position: The Marine Terminal Engineer is part of the Subsea, Civil, and Marine engineering team within the Chevron ENGINE Center i and provides technical services and technology development support to both the base business and capital projects. The position requires the engineer to assess and define technical requirements of floating offshore production systems, marine offloading facilities, and fixed and floating marine terminals, F(P)SO’s, and FSRU’s in shallow to deepwater depth applications. The engineer is a technical specialist in the areas of Naval Architecture, Ocean, and Coastal Engineering for near shore and offshore. Key Responsibilities: • Plan, assess, and design of near shore and offshore marine terminal loading systems, terminal operations, vessel motions, berthing, mooring and downtime analyses of tankers and carriers, breakwaters and groins, navigation channels, sediment transport, and coastal processes • Manage design, fabrication, and installation of key components of offshore loading buoys including Single Point Moorings, Conventional Buoy Moorings, and lightering systems • Evaluate the performance and condition of key terminal components, mooring and offloading systems and equipment to determine remaining and extended life • Assess F(P)SO turret and mooring systems to support the mooring and berthing of oil and chemical tankers and gas carriers • Support assignments using knowledge and experience in ocean/coastal engineering, for the design, fabrication, and installation of shallow water and deepwater offshore facilities • Ability to assist and respond quickly to project needs. Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with project teams • Utilize project management skills to plan and manage contractors and consulting support to projects • Exhibit open, honest, and effective communications in all directions, good interpersonal skills, team engagement and ability to influence across organizations Required Qualifications: • MS in Civil, Ocean or Coastal Engineering from a deemed/recognized university • Direct engineering experience for proposed and existing marine terminals for oil and gas production including concept development, pre-FEED, FEED and detailed design for construction, installation, commissioning, and operation for a variety of projects. Expertise with integrity management of marine terminals • Analytical strengths in finite element analysis, shallow water and deepwater hydrodynamics, and nonlinear behavior. Analysis software experience with Python, MATLAB, C++, Julia, AutoCAD, Rhino, ICEM CFD, Solidworks, Star CCM+, Orcaflex, WAMIT, Abaqus, aNyMOOR TermSim, MIKE21, and NEMOH Preferred Qualifications: • A minimum of 15 years of oil and gas industry experience related to marine terminals and shallow water and deepwater hydrodynamics • Solid foundation and advanced skills in naval architecture or ocean/coastal engineering with strengths in hydrodynamics, nonlinear dynamics, vessel and hull motions, mooring analysis, ship to shore interfaces. Hands-on experience with design practices, analysis methods and tools. Working knowledge of industry guidelines, recommendations, practices and standards • Technical leadership to support project teams and collaborate across multidisciplinary functions to design, execute, and evaluate projects to minimize risk and achieve objectives • Ability to develop and maintain accurate, complete, and current standards and guidelines • Demonstrate the ability to develop new and maintain existing stakeholder relationships Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
