Job description:

HDR is looking for a Maritime Operations Planner to join our New Orleans team in developing and implementing Littoral Craft capability solutions for our Marine Corps Forces Reserve client. Duties include working in a professional environment with a team of military, government civilians, and contractors.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assist in developing Littoral Craft capabilities and requirements documents.Assist in developing and updating the Littoral Craft Training and Operations Procedures Standardization manual for the Marine Corps Forces Reserve.Assist in developing US Marine Corps (USMC) Training and Readiness StandardsAssist in updating USMC service-level doctrine documents.Assist in capturing and documenting lessons learned for input into the Marine Corps Center for Lessons Learned (MCCLL) database. Assist in refining optimal crew composition and task organization to include Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) and ranks.Evaluate and refine required boat equipment lists and individual equipment necessary to safely conduct military training activities.Assist in developing training plans and identifying training sources for individuals, boat crews, and maintenance personnel. Assist in defining qualifications, roles, and responsibilities for crew positions and the process for obtaining the qualifications.Assess training locations, areas, and support facilities.Observe and provide written feedback on training activities.Assist in conducting program inspections.Evaluate and provide feedback on maintenance programs and facilities.Assist in defining logistics support required for craft operations.Participate in training and exercise planning conferences and working groups.Domestic travel to Federal site locations as needed to attend meetings, conferences, and observe training activities.Perform other operations planning duties as assigned by military and civilian leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

Diversity of experience in military tactical boat training and operations on a variety of platforms.Understanding of current tactical boat programs across the DoD. Experience in drafting or updating military doctrine documents.Experience in developing military training standards and implementing training plans for military small boat crews/operators.Experience in evaluating military or government boat crew training activities.Experience in assessing training locations, areas, and support facilities for small boat operations.Demonstrated ability to maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Have or the ability to obtain US SECRET security clearance eligibility.

Required Qualifications

10 or more years of relevant experience in military or government small boat operationsBachelor’s degree in a relatable field.Strong organizational and time management skills and experience with timelines and deadlines.Excellent analytical and communication skills, both written and oral.Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)Able to pass a federal background check to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC)Ability to travel within the Continental US, Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico.Due to client requirements, US Citizenship is required.An attitude and commitment to active participation in our employee-owned culture is a must.
