Summary Hospital Sisters Health System is looking for a Market Chief Nursing Officer to lead our Central Illinois Market. The market structure includes fives Illinois based HSHS hospitals and is based at our flagship hospital, HSHS St. John’s, in Springfield, IL. This role is responsible for all day to day nursing responsibilities at HSHS St. John’s Hospital as well as overall market nursing oversight. This role reports directly to the HSHS Central Illinois Market President & CEO. The ideal candidate is a seasoned CNO that is confident managing in a matrix environment with proven success in a hospital setting with care delivery, strategy, and culture. Ideally, this candidate will have CNO experience within a tertiary hospital as well as experience within a trauma designated hospital. The ideal candidate is also comfortable in community involvement throughout the market, especially in Springfield. The hospital has begun to implement a modernization plan that features a major infrastructure renovation to update clinical spaces, improve patient room amenities and improve the patient experience. This latest investment, totaling approximately $90 million, will result in the modernization of the clinical space to enable hospital colleagues to continue the Mission of the Hospital Sisters to serve our current patients and future generations. The project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2026. Qualifications Education Master’s degree in business, nursing or healthcare administration or a related field is required. Experience 3 years of chief nursing leadership experience is required. Certifications, Licenses and Registrations Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice is required. Wisconsin: RNs may practice with a valid multi-state RN license as outlined in the Nurse Licensure Compact rules.
