Reporting directly to the Texas Market CFO, the Controller will provide direction and oversight of the financial management operations of the Practice(s). The role will work closely with the senior leadership of the Practice(s) providing support for the necessary financial and business strategy components required for the market to effectively manage its current business and grow. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of healthcare and working with physicians in private practice or a hospital-employed setting. The Controller will prepare monthly financial reports for month end close and senior-level reporting requirements for MORs. The Controller will work closely with the Market CFO and Practice management team(s) to develop annual operating, labor, and capital budgets, and assist with forecasting and modeling efforts. This position will be a high-profile position interacting with all levels of management and physicians in the organization.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to support each essential function satisfactorily.

· Prepare/review financial reports required for internal and external financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.

· Oversee timely completion of the monthly close process, internal and external reporting, and the accurate calculation of physician compensation in accordance with the Plan Regarding Compensation for Services (PRCS).

· Ensure proper analytical review of the balance sheet and income statement and ensure reconciliations are completed timely to support balances. 

· Develop and monitor operating, capital, labor, and productivity budgets.

· Analyze monthly, quarterly, annual, and multi-year financial statements to identify budget variances and trends, and work with Practice leadership to understand and develop gap-closure plans.

· Work closely with Revenue Cycle leadership to monitor revenue cycle activities, identifying trends and opportunities.

· Oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions, including the accumulation and analysis of financial and statistical data in accordance with established policies and procedures.

· Assist with tax return and annual audit requests as necessary.

· Ensure all accounting practices meet the highest standard of integrity and comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other industry standards.

· Continually work toward promotion of efficiency and effectiveness of all accounting functions, via process and workflow improvements; including investment in and implementation of technology to support automation.

· Provide accounting and financial related assistance to other departments, including participation in training staff on accounting procedures and budget management as needed.

· Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

  

KEY COMPETENCIES:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or FinanceGraduate degree in Business, Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred5+ years of progressively responsible experience in the financial management of a complex physician group compensation planPossess strong management skills and the ability to oversee and manage a complex budget process necessary to achieve high financial expectations.Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve objectives.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment
