The anticipated salary range for this role is between $166,000.00 and $191,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees. **Role Description** Market Data Services Lead is responsible for gathering and analyzing information about the market, key suppliers, and industry trends to develop our global strategies for this category that support our sourcing decisions, contract negotiations, and procurement process. This position focusses on the contracting, licensing and related compliance aspect of market data and third-party usage at all levels from original source to use by business stakeholders (applications, databases, spreadsheets, desktops etc.) External data points will include but not limited to real-time, delayed data, derived data, reference data, research, news, and alternative data. **Role Objectives** + Drive the Market Data services to manage the demand for key suppliers and to better anticipate future demand and aggregate spend globally for buying efficiency and consolidated negotiations. + Understand and document the use of external third-party data and associated downstream processes. + Develop, manage, communicate, and enforce policies and controls that ensure effective consumption and overall compliance with Market Data/Third Party vendor agreements. + Participate in audits from exchanges or suppliers to measure usage, policy and contract compliance. + Develop and maintain relationships with our third-party suppliers to understand product and service offerings. + Evaluate/implement application compliance tools to assist with the reduction of risk and exposure to data licensing requirements. + Research and identify suppliers based on experience in the market within the Market Data category space to adapt to objectives or to streamline costs + Develop and execute a global strategy and framework to partner / evolve relationships with strategic suppliers. + Execute program initiatives including effective routines to mitigate risks and drive results, robust reporting cadences and change management practices + Serve as a key team member and lead on projects related to data usage and control. + Keep up to date with exchange/supplier policy changes and implement any required changes. + Manage negotiations for new contracts or renewal of existing market data contracts. + Prepare Stakeholder market data category briefings, deliver presentations tailored to targeted audiences including the Executive Leadership team + Ensure contractual changes are properly reflective within COUPA and SPEND. + Partner and collaborate with regional and international colleagues, internal stakeholders, and technology. **Qualifications and Skills** + BA/BS in Supply Chain Management/Business/Finance or related field required + 8 - 10 years of relevant market data financial services experience with an understanding of financial data products used in banking, risk management, regulatory reporting, and financial services, covering such products as Bloomberg, Dun & Bradstreet, Dow Jones, Refinitiv, S&P, and Moody’s. + Experience managing performance of large/strategic third-party suppliers. + Cross-functional leadership in an environment of change with a focus on innovation, collaboration, client focus, continuous improvement, and empowerment. + Results-oriented, strong collaborative skills and positive attitude with strong attention to detail and a process-driven mindset. + Strong ability to build relationships and networks with multiple functions and at all levels within the organization. + Data driven with strong influencing skills and proven track record aligning stakeholders and team members to project outcomes delivering value. + Change leadership, business acumen and strategic thinking in a highly matrixed, complex organization. + Demonstrated ability in building, managing, and leading global in-person and virtual teams. + Have a good working knowledge of licensing obligations, their touchpoints with other areas, how to achieve compliance and the potential impact of non-compliance. + Experience working within SPEND or similar inventory tool. + Working knowledge of supplier provided access systems such as DACS and EMRS. + Proven ability to meet established deadlines while successfully manage multiple priorities and stakeholders. **Additional Requirements** SMBC’s employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model that provides employees with an opportunity to work from home, as well as, from an SMBC office.
