Market Development Agronomist
Market Development Agronomist (MDA) is jointly responsible with Territory Sales Manager and Market Development Lead to achieve territory sales targets by enabling the sales team success by utilizing their agronomic expertise to advance and position Bayer portfolio of seed, crop protection and tailored solutions with customers.
MDA is Management of large-scale field trial testing program generating commercial seed and crop protection data used to support new product launch, product positioning and technical knowledge transfer.
The Market Development field agronomist will also provide technical support and training with strategic retail partners, Bayer Area Sales managers and Sales Representatives to enable selling with confidence.
The Market Development Agronomist is expected to represent Bayer in a professional manner, championing corporate policies with respect to safety, business conduct, respect in the workplace and compliance in the performance of their duties and activities.
YOUR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESExecute field scale testing programsPrograms include field testing of Bayer seed products/ CP products of post dossier submission and Ground Breaker trials for new product launches from all platforms with retails/growers to plant trials, collect required data, maintain trials as needed, and harvest trialsData management, quality review and timely submission of trial results.Work with sales/ customer marketing to categorize and validate key product features and benefits for support materialTechnical support and training for strategic retail partners and Bayer sales teamWork with Bayer sales team to achieve local business objectives through technical support and training. Retail support provided strategically based on business prioritiesIn-field and classroom agronomic training for key retails and Sales team.Support sales for grower demand events and other face-to-face promotional activities for newly launched productsSupport Territory Sales Managers with in-field diagnostic service for seed and crop protection product performance inquires requiring technical analysisProvide technical information with seed, trait and chemistry productsCommunicate agronomic position of seed products, benefits of trait products and benefits and uses of chemistry productsEnsure new technologies have proper profile with key growers and retailUnderstand technical position of Bayer products compared to competitorsSales and business supportCreate annual Agronomy business plan for communication/alignment with sales team on activities to prioritize to support success of businessPosition and support Bayer Seed, Traits, Crop Protection, Biologics and application technologies to deliver Tailored Agronomic Solutions with sales and retail to meet or exceed territory targetsDeployment of learning centers to promote relevant product brands in context of end to end tailored solutionsSupport crop protection management strategy and other stewardship initiatives for seed, trait and crop protection productsCommunicate position of resistance strategies and other stewardship initiativesProvide technical support and training for crop protection management strategies and other stewardship initiatives as neededBuild profile as technical expert in territoryBuild presence with key growers, retails, and public extension officersParticipate in industry events and organizations where appropriateCompliant with Bayer safety, driving policies and manage summer studentsComplete safety and driving training as requiredReport injuries and accidents as requiredCoordinate and participate in required safety meetingsSupport safety initiatives at trail sites and locationsSupport internship if applicable
WHO YOU ARE:BSc Degree or equivalent in Agriculture or related discipline with up to 3 years of Agronomy, field development or R&D related experienceUnderstands basics of crop production, agronomy and Bayer portfolio for key targeted cropsOrganize and execute a commercial trial program, familiar with IT system for data managementUnderstands territory sales targets, business needs and familiar with key internal sales and MD team and aware of key retail partnersHigh agronomy technical knowledge, Analytical skills;Good working knowledge of Crop Protection Industry and Seed BusinessAdvanced computer and database skills including Apollo and or other MD data analysis platformsExcellent relationship and team skillsExcellent organization and time managementStrategic view of regional issues and understanding of implications of actions on the achievement of BCS short term and long term objectives.Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skill setProactively lead technical training to BCS and external staffProblem solving through analytical thinking and judgments in complex situations with little guidanceRegular contact and influence on key influencers in territory (agronomists, provincial specialists etc.)
