Woolpert is seeking a seasoned business development executive who brings strategic perspective, strong leadership and mentorship skills, and a track record of success in support of U.S. National Security.
The Market Director will have broad market awareness and trusted customer relationships within the Defense and intelligence agencies. This individual will possess domain knowledge and creative energy/aptitude to leverage the company’s diverse capabilities and technology to identify, develop, shape and drive to closure new opportunities. The Market Director will have proven experience collaborating to achieve new business growth and the ability to shape and drive a dynamic, positive winning culture. The successful candidate will have existing relationships within the government community, strong personal integrity and reputation/brand, and a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain trusted relationships.
This person will also possess a track record of success leading large capture and growth initiatives, building teams of industry partners, focus on positioning and capturing new business contracts, and winning large and complex integrated solutions opportunities within the government sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning: Provides critical linkages between the long-term strategic plan and near-term new business actions and partner with the Business Leaders to ensure effective use of business development and line resources across the group as well as identifying and responding to key customer relationship needs.
Client Engagement: Establish customer/ client relationships to identify and initiate Geospatial opportunities within the Security and Intelligence Community markets with targeted customers. Engages customers in identifying and shaping opportunities. This includes active communication of filtered actionable intelligence back to the line of business and functional group staff. Promotes Woolpert as an industry leader for specified market/practice and service(s) with new and existing clients.
Market Analysis: Creates, manages, and implements go-to-market plans (to articulate and generate consensus for strategic vision, action plans, competitive intelligence, investments, business case, etc.).
Proposal Management: Advises on business strategy across all Defense and IC programs at Woolpert including legislative affairs. Works with other sales and technical leads to refine and execute sales strategy.
Collaboration: Builds and delivers Woolpert’s “trusted advisor” reputation while growing revenue and profitability, building relationships by trust through competency, delivery and thought leadership.
Networking: Makes formal presentations and/or publishes articles for professional/ trade/civic organizations.
Portfolio Management: Monitor and report on business development activities, including pipeline status, win/loss analysis, project and portfolio management.
Business Acumen: Develop long and short-term business plans with vision, strategy, structure and staffing for the Market. Align with company leadership on strategy and set financial goals to be achieved. Work with project and product delivery teams and corporate leadership to develop implement changes that will create a competitive advantage.
Education: BA/BS and 12+ years of related business development, with a focus on geospatial technologies and their applications within the intelligence community. Advanced degree preferred.
Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain an Active TS/SCI Clearance or above.
Additionally, the Market Director brings:
Demonstrated leadership ability and excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills to include briefings, sales calls, and team-based discussions. Strong knowledge of GEOINT with specific experience in Surveying and Mapping, Overhead Earth Observation, commercial and advanced EO sensors. A proven track record of successfully securing and managing large contracts. Ownership of the business development process and provide longer-term account management to strategic partner accounts. Demonstrated experience growing, mentoring, and leading a team. Strategic insight and execution across the entire capture lifecycle. Experience with all contract types (e.g., FFP, T&M, cost plus) as well as non-IDIQ and IDIQ single or multiple award contracts, and OTAs. Proven experience with strategic planning, large-scale capture management, customer relationship management Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build win-win partnerships externally with customers and within Woolpert, with a particular focus on understanding how to leverage technology differentiators. Demonstrated ability to identify emerging business trends resulting in strategy recommendations to senior management. Working knowledge of the Federal procurement process, and a demonstrated proficiency with IC and DoD strategy and acquisition plans. Understanding of the IC / DoD business processes and LSI vendors that are often selected to deliver these capabilities. Experience with strategy design, project management, and organizational design and change.
Travel: Ability to travel up to 50%.
