Treasury Risk VP, Global Treasury Risk Management
OVERVIEW
Global Treasury Risk Management (GTRM), a team within Financial Risk Management of State Street’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) division, is looking for an experienced treasury risk management professional. The primary focus for the position is on independent risk oversight of State Street’s balance sheet interest rate risk.
GLOBAL TREASURY RISK MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT
ERM proactively identify, capture and measure, monitor and report risks arising from the provision of products and services to State Street’s clients through comprehensive risk limit framework, well established policies, guidelines, and procedures, and effective governing committees. GTRM acts as the business-aligned risk functional unit focused on these responsibilities for the activities of the Global Treasury (GT) division. GT core functions include managing the investment portfolio, asset-liability risk, liquidity risk, funding and liability pricing, capital structure, and rating agency relationships.
GTRM plays a critical role in the overall success of the organization. State Street investors and clients rely on State Street to ensure the risks of State Street are appropriately managed. Our team is responsible for identify, analyzing, monitoring key financial risks of State Street balance sheet including liquidity risk, interest rate risk (IRR), and mark-to-market risk and capital.
POSITION PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Treasury Risk VP within GTRM will focus on interest rate risk management of State Street’ balance sheet. The candidate should have experience within a banking organization, have strong analytical ability to work with large amount of balance sheet data, and possess good verbal and written communication skills for interactions within GTRM as well as with internal and external stakeholders including global business partners and regulators.
The primary responsibility of the risk management team is to provide independent oversight of the firm’s balance sheet interest rate risk. The candidate will actively support the independent oversight of balance sheet interest rate risk (IRR) (e.g., risk metrics and limits, independent reviews, governance, reporting, etc.). The individual will provide an independent assessment of the overall accuracy, effectiveness, and reliability of the balance sheet interest rate risk management framework. The candidate will participate in special projects and review Global Treasury business strategies and new business initiatives to ensure business objectives are met within the firm’s overall risk appetite. The candidate will develop knowledge in interest rate risk management and the Global Treasury business, including deep knowledge of the investment portfolio, deposit modeling, and regulatory requirements.
Additional duties and responsibilities include:
Review, challenge and reporting of firm's balance sheet interest rate risk profile and changes timely and accurately.
Develop interest rate risk limits, policy, guidelines and operating procedures, according to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Develop and/or improve interest rate risk measurements and methodologies to capture all key risk factors as market condition changes and for new business initiatives.
Oversight of risk capturing of clients deposit behaviors and impacts to NII and EVE. Recommend and/or review risk measurement overlay if needed.
Review and challenge of CCAR and QST stress testing results, and perform risk attribution analyses.
Oversight of underlying assumptions of QRM system implementation (e.g., interest rate term structure models, volatility models) and their impacts to risk metrics results.
Perform independent review of balance sheet interest rate risk management processes.
Prepare analyses, reports and data for senior management, audit, regulatory communication and exams, and rating agency requests.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
10+ years of experience in roles related to asset-liability management with a focus on balance sheet interest rate risk; exposure to regulatory interactions is a plus.
At least undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business or quantitative field (such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, etc.) with a proven affinity to financial services; graduate degree or professional designations such as CFA or FRM are a plus.
In-depth understanding of financial statements of financial institutions and impacts from central bank policy changes to financial institutions.
Good working knowledge of financial products, such as fixed income securities, foreign exchange products, and interest rate derivatives. Good understanding of hedging strategies against interest rate risk and FX exchange risk.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to articulate effectively ideas and analysis to senior management.
Strong analytical skill on working with large balance sheet data. Proficiency with asset liability management systems, such as QRM, is a plus.
Self-starter with critical thinking skills and strong financial acumen, willingness to work in a fast-paced and high-energy level environment, and highly organized to manage competing deadlines.
Team player with unquestionable integrity and ethical standards. Ability to gain trust and respect of business partners.

Salary Range:
$130,000 - $205,000 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
