The team works across locations and product types including natural gas, LNG, power, emissions, and dry bulk products.The Middle Office team is responsible for calculating profits and losses and for monitoring the risks of the trading department. It is responsible for all aspects of market risk control, such as risk identification, measurement, monitoring and disclosure across various classes of energy commodity assets.The Top Management of Gas branch follows and controls the trading activity through the Middle Office reports. We are looking to hire an Analyst to join our Market Risk and Method team.

 


 What you will do


You will work in the Trading Support department, under the supervision of Market Risk and Method Manager, and will seek to measure, analyse, and monitor the P&L, exposure and the various risk indicators (Value-At-Risk, Drawdown, Profit at Risk,…) of the Trading desks. You may be expected to develop new tools to secure and optimise the process and build new reports and market risk indicators adapted to the business evolutions. The position is based in Geneva and include oversight of energy markets.

As part of the Trading Support team, activities involve contributing to any risk control process of the entities covered by the Global team:

Analyse, model, and report market risk for all trading activities. Assess and monitor physical and financial trades, transportation, storage, options portfolio and foreign exchange deals. Analyse mark-to-market valuations, risk positions, basis changes, and P&L results daily. Develop and maintain risk reporting and analytical tools to communicate position, P&L and market risk to traders and management.Monitor timely deal capture, internal trading limits, and risk policy requirements to ensure the representativeness and integrity of transactions in the trading system. Design, develop and implement new risk metrics and new risk models. Evaluate model assumptions against fundamentals and communicate suggested modelling/valuation enhancements to achieve better valuation and risk quantification. Communicate effectively with Front Office, Operations, Back Office and Finance teams on inputs and assumptions.Provide critical thinking around risk reporting processes, quantification, and analysis of commodity exposure and forward price movements for TGP’s multi-products trading activities. Work closely with traders to quantify and explain the sources of risk in their portfolios. Promote innovative ways of leveraging existing data monitor and manage their risks.Contribute to the reporting of Trading Result / Position to Senior management.Support, identify, and assist in process improvement implementations, from system testing and implementations to desk level process.Work closely with Back Office, Finance, Credit, Legal & Compliance, Front Office to improve the flow of data across departments and the accuracy of analysis.Identify and communicate operational risks, define risk mitigating measures and priorities.

 

Accountabilities

Compliance with internal trading limits.Accurate and independent analysis, valuation, and reporting of risk positions and trading results.External regulatory compliance Candidate Profile Master’s degree or equivalent in Finance or Quantitative discipline.Strong programming skills (Python/VBA/SQL…) and visualization frameworks (PBI…).You have minimum 2 years of experience in a role where you have been exposed to energy markets and commodity trading. You have a comprehensive understanding of risk management methodologies (commodities/FX) and valuation models. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.High levels of numeracy and computer literacy.High degree of accuracy and efficiency under set deadlines.High levels of flexibility with regards working hours.Good interpersonal skills. Fluent in English.
