Marketing and Communications Officer

About Our Client: Our client is Canada’s top provider of professional education and career development in the property and casualty insurance industry.

 

Position Scope:

The Marketing & Communications Officer is responsible for the planning, support and delivery of specific projects and campaigns that build awareness and support recruitment activities for educational programs through advertising, tradeshow, and public and media relations initiatives, as well as social media, website and email campaigns. The desired impact of the position is to grow awareness, membership and increase student registrations of the organization’s many products and services. The position works closely with local Institutes and key stakeholder groups. The Marketing & Communications Officer will also collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team as well as internal departments to aid in the development of communications and marketing campaigns to reach a variety of audiences, including members, students and the insurance industry.

 

Responsibilities:

Support development and implementation of specific recruitment, marketing and communication plans for our client’s products and services such as the designations (CIP/Advanced CIP / FCIP / Risk management / Commercial / MGA) and other products and major initiatives Meet recruitment targets; contribute to and produce reporting Support and manage the creation of a wide range of communications products and materials including member and student communications, corporate reports, key messages, newsletters, brochures, and other marketing materials Ensure a clear, consistent and compelling message to target markets, stakeholders and the industry Work closely with department team members to create multi-dimensional communications programs (e.g., info sheets, print and social advertising, direct and digital mail campaigns, digital tools, webinars, video productions, social media initiatives) that support marketing strategies to build awareness and generate new members, and revenue opportunities Working with the Communications Manager, provide public relations and media relations support as needed, including media release and agency management; assist with development and management of National Education Month activities Contribute to publications Provide marketing & communications counsel to Programs and Operations teams, as well as regional contacts as needed Act as a MarCom department representative in various working committees across the organization Working with Communications Manager to co-ordinate outreach to CIP Proud testimonials and Leadership Series quotes as needed.

 

Industry Outreach

Some event management work; occasional attendance at industry meetings and tradeshows Management of corporate sponsorship activities.

 

Advertising and Promotion

Work with Communications Manager as needed to develop annual advertising plan and budget, planning includes traditional and digital advertising. Support relationships with advertising agencies, media buy, promotional items vendors and design consultants as needed. Oversee the design and publishing of material ensuring that design meets communication standards and continue to maintain the corporate brand image; digital and print formats are used

 

Digital and Social Media

Work with web team as needed regarding the creation of website content Support Communications Manager in the development and sharing of content for social media properties such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook Consult various analytics platforms to provide reports on campaigns (Sprout Social, Google Analytics is an asset)

 

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Strong project management skills and multi-tasking capabilities. Strong knowledge of and experience in advertising, and email, media relations, social media, print and digital production. Excellent written and verbal communications skills Ability to work independently with limited supervision; critical thinking Some vendor management skills preferred Specific tools used: LinkedIn/Twitter/Instagram/Facebook/YouTube/Sprout Social/Google Analytics/Microsoft Office Suite/Sitecore/Aptify CRM /Salesforce Marketing Cloud email/ Ability to leverage AI in developing content and videos would be an asset

 

Education and Experience:

5+ years of proven experience with a focus on marketing and communications Proven experience in recruitment, marketing and integrated communications planning and proven experience in execution of plans in higher education or association sector University or college diploma in related field Prior experience working for a regulatory body or member-focused organization would be an asset.
