Job Description:Are you a creative and strategic thinker with a passion for marketing and communications? The University of Florida is seeking a dynamic and talented Marketing and Communications Specialist to join our team in the University of Florida College of Nursing.
As a Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that effectively promote the College of Nursing's brand, programs, and initiatives. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students, to create compelling content across multiple platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment.
Essential functions for this position are:
Content Creation and Management – Social Media and UF CON Webpages
Create engaging, high-quality branded multimedia content (text, images, videos, graphics, etc.) tailored to specific platforms, including Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, as well as the CON website and online platforms. Manage the CON’s web presence, including enhancing content development, content updates and ongoing maintenance using the WordPress platform, ensuring content is up-to-date, relevant, consistent, and engaging. Ensure all content across social media and web pages are consistent with brand messaging, tone, and style guidelines. Collaborate with team members to develop and manage a content calendar that highlights key events, achievements, and initiatives of the CON. Lead live coverage of college events, including graduations, ceremonies, and academic milestones, to enhance real-time engagement. Partner with faculty, students, and alumni to share impactful stories that showcase the CON’s excellence. Leverage a variety of digital tools, software, and equipment (such as Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, AI, and web design platforms) to produce high-quality, visually engaging online content that supports marketing campaigns and enhances content creation, distribution, and the user experience. Actively identify and participate in ongoing learning and professional development in the field of digital media.Strategic Social Media and Digital Planning
Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the CON’s strategic goals, vision, and brand to lead in the digital space. Identify trends, audience behaviors, and competitive insights to craft innovative strategies for growth and engagement. Collaborate with marketing, admissions, and academic leadership to ensure cohesive messaging across all digital platforms. Ensure consistency with UF branding guidelines and accessibility standards while maintaining the accuracy and organization of digital content. Conduct regular website audits to identify and address technical issues, broken links, outdated content, and opportunities for improvement.Community Engagement, Growth, and Innovation
Build and nurture an engaged online community by appropriately responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Identify and collaborate with influencers, alumni, and stakeholders to amplify the college’s digital reach. Foster a culture of digital advocacy among students, faculty, and alumni, encouraging active participation and sharing of content. Explore emerging platforms, tools, and technologies to enhance the CON’s digital presence. Develop creative campaigns that position the college as a digital trailblazer in higher education.Analytics and Optimization
Monitor, analyze, and report on social media and website performance metrics to measure success and inform future strategies. Use data to optimize the CON’s webpages for SEO to improve search rankings, drive traffic, and increase conversions. Use data to identify opportunities for improvement, optimize campaigns, and ensure the best ROI on social media efforts. Stay informed about changes in social media and online algorithms and trends to maintain a competitive edge. Expected Salary:$55,000 - $65,000 annually
Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate: At least two years of experience in digital marketing and communications Experience in media production or a related field, or equivalent practical experience Experience in managing an organization’s social media strategy and channels Demonstrated writing and editing skills using AP Style Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) Deep understanding of digital trends and editing principles Understanding of color grading, audio mixing, and video output formats Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Familiarity with special effects, 3D, and composition Familiarity with audio editing software (e.g. Adobe Audition) Website development, curation, and management Special Instructions to Applicants:Interested candidates must submit a cover letter, resume and three professional references.
