This Marketing Attorney supports our Purpose by providing legal support and pragmatic advice to multiple departments regarding advertising, consumer protection, trademark, copyright, and privacy laws and compliance in support of our interline, assigned seats and Getaways by Southwest™ initiatives. This role provides excellent legal counsel and guidance, negotiates complex agreements, has the ability and desire to learn a broad range of practice areas, and effectively represents Southwest with outside vendors, lawyers, and others. This Attorney is detail-oriented and a skilled communicator who looks forward to making a meaningful impact on the Southwest operation.

Due to the nature of this role, you would be required to work from our Dallas, TX headquarters facility during business hours.

Responsibilities  Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreementsAnalyze and interpret existing Company agreements to provide legal advice and guidanceProvide legal counsel and guidance regarding applicable laws, regulations, and policies to multiple departments within the CompanyCollaborate with legal department colleagues on a variety of legal, regulatory and policy issuesProvide legal support and advice to support compliance with the Company’s corporate policiesPerform other duties requiring legal research and analysis and/or negotiations as may be requestedMay be required to perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders 

  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  Skilled in written and oral communication, ability to work effectively with all levels of Southwest Employees, Southwest executives, clients, outside counsel, vendors, and othersSkilled in interpersonal relationships, ability to work well with others as part of a teamAbility to perform well under pressureAbility to exercise judgment sufficient to handle and resolve issues related to sensitive and confidential legal mattersAbility and willingness to gain expertise and perform work in new areas of the lawAbility to be proactive, have excellent organizational skills, and perform efficiently and effectively on multiple projects under tight deadlinesEducationRequired: High School Diploma or GEDRequired: Bachelor’s DegreeRequired: Law degree from accredited school

ExperiencePreferred: Experience in Ironclad and Workshare Preferred: Experience in marketing and technology deals Intermediate level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge as a licensed practicing attorney with a practice focus on corporate law and commercial transactions

Licensing/CertificationMust be a current member in good standing of a bar association

Physical AbilitiesAbility to perform work duties from work station/desk/office area for extended periods of timeAbility to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the jobAbility to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Pay & Benefits

Competitive market salary from  $166,280.00-180,120.00 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
