**Job Summary**
The Division of Public Health ( DPH ) is looking for a Marketing/Communications Specialist who will design, coordinate, and execute a wide range of marketing/communications. Performs a variety of writing, design, and project management tasks while using good judgment and strong interpersonal skills to plan and execute marketing/communications strategies. Utilizes traditional and electronic publishing technologies to produce communications that implement project objectives.
**Responsibilities**
**Essential Duties:**
1. Develops and executes marketing/communication plans by utilizing traditional and electronic publishing technologies
+ Manages a comprehensive student recruitment plan. Includes developing/maintaining relationships with high school staff, and visiting undergraduate programs on campus and in the region.
+ Manage social media accounts.
2. Student Recruitment
+ Conduct recruitment presentations, campus tours, and host special events.
+ Attends national and local conferences
+ Assist prospective students in gathering the necessary information they need to make an informed decision about the University of Utah and how to navigate the various processes and offices to enroll at the University of Utah.
+ Counsel students and parents regarding the admissions process.
+ Provide follow-up correspondence and individual counseling to prospective students via in-person meetings, e-mail, telephone, and U.S. mail.
+ Work with Academic Advising team to ensure smooth transfer from recruitment to matriculation.
+ Actively track and report out on prospective student recruitment
3. Develops and communicates department information on various projects to its stakeholders, both internal and external
4. Responsible for monitoring effectiveness of marketing/communication tactics and adjusting communication plans as necessary
5. Collaborates with the Department and other clientele to conceptualize on various projects
6. May assist in supporting other areas of department as needed such as education team and marketing team.
7. Manage and support learning aboard activities.
8. Proofreads all communications and monitors media
9. Manages the research and development of content for publication
10. Develops and adheres to project timelines
11. Ensures that distributed material is accurate and timely
12. Other duties as assigned
**Minimum Qualifications**
Bachelor’s degree English, Journalism, Communications, or related field plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of computer software; project management and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.
Some areas may require additional experience with specific computer systems and may require skills in interviewing, ad copy writing, editing, photography, web writing, graphic design, audio & video production, and oral presentation.
Master’s degree in a related field may be preferred.
