The Operational Services Division’s (OSD) Marketing, Communications, and Events (MCE) team is looking for a creative, thoughtful, and detail-oriented individual to join the team as a Marketing Specialist, Digital Content. The ideal candidate is interested in working for the state government and being part of a fast-paced, goal-oriented organization and possesses the following characteristics:

Effective communication skills in both oral and written formatsCurious and eager to learnDetail oriented and highly organized; able to successfully manage and prioritize several concurrent projects with competing deadlinesAble to ensure accountability in collaborative and independent settings Action-oriented and focused on meeting deadlines and achieving outcomes

The OSD Marketing team is an eight-person unit headed by the Director of MCE and reporting to the Assistant Secretary for Operational Services. MCE supports OSD’s programs across a variety of units, including Strategic Sourcing, Local Government Enablement, Training, the Commonwealth Print and Mail Services, the Office of Vehicle Management, and others.

Job Functions

Content Creation

Create visually compelling and technically sound online communications designed to drive traffic, promote engagement, and support OSD objectivesPerform keyword, industry, and competitive research to inform content marketing strategy, and collaborate with content contributors to create high-quality content around relevant terms and trendsProduce creative visual assets (photographs, videos, infographics, GIFs, stop-motion) for website, email marketing, blog, and social media usage

Social Media

Manage OSD’s social media accounts, including X, and LinkedIn, Oversee the posting social media calendar, utilizing Hootsuite. Knowledge of Hootsuite Enterprise is a plus Create original social media content for X and LinkedIn, including copy and graphicsOrganize the social media content repository and design social media monthly and weekly views

Website Maintenance

Perform mass.gov website content updates Collaborate with OSD’s Marketing Coordinator to routinely track mass.gov analytics and communicate trends with the team

Qualifications

2 years of managing social media accounts for an organization/businessExperience creating original social media content including copy and graphicsWebsite management experience, including content development, page design, wireframe development, copywriting, and site maintenance.Working knowledge of Canva and Adobe Creative Suite Deep understanding of digital and social media realms; passionate about generating and sharing content and new technologiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDetail-oriented and strong organizational skillsWorks extremely well under pressure and able to multi-task on concurrent projectsEnjoys working in a hands-on and collaborative team environmentPhotography, videography and editing skills are an asset

I. A Bachelor's degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the-required experience.

II. A Graduate degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.

III. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major other than in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
