As a part of Marsh Asia, Marsh Advisory Asia comprises of 250 colleagues operating across the region. The depth and breadth of ever evolving capabilities within Marsh Advisory simultaneously provide differentiated high-value risk management advisory services to our clients and rapid growth opportunities to Marsh. In Asia, the business consists of country teams that provide country-specific services and a series of regional teams that provide specialised services across the region. The country teams provide primarily risk engineering services matched to the requirements of Marsh clients in their respective country.

The role will require direct management of Japan country team (primarily engineering and business continuity), as well as be responsible for bringing the best of Marsh Advisory from across Asia and globally, but specifically from the Asia regional teams. Ensure the Japan country engineering services remain best in class.Ensure the full capabilities of Marsh Advisory Asia are consistently brought to Japan clients and prospects including Hi-tech engineering, power engineering, BCM, crisis, ERM, climate, cyber, analytics and others.Support RFPs for Japan clients and projects.Colleagues – Management and leadership of Japan based advisory colleagues:
Direct line management of Japan advisory colleagues, specifically the engineering team, including career development for those colleagues.Matrixed management of all but the most senior advisory regional colleagues that are based in Japan, ensuring adequately Japan-based support.Close alignment and support of the regional teams.Financials – Accountable for financial outcomes:
Full P&L ownership for Marsh advisory Japan including country-based and regional revenue targets.Lead the annual budgeting process for Marsh advisory Japan, supported by FP&A.Adjust the business throughout the year as needed – e.g. seeking unbudgeted hires as needed.What you need to have:
A minimum of 12 years of experience in risk and insurance consulting, preferably within a strategy consulting firm. Experience in risk management advisory is highly desirable.Proven track record in successfully developing and expanding a consulting practice.In-depth knowledge of the Japanese market and culture, with a strong understanding of local business practices.Demonstrated success in leading and motivating diverse teams across regional and global contexts.Experience in business continuity and crisis management, with expertise in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) encompassing strategic, operational, financial, and regulatory risk identification, analysis and control.Familiarity with risk monitoring and reporting, including the design, configuration and implementation of risk management systems.Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify problems, synthesise core issues and develop innovative solutions that integrate a wide range of disciplines and expertise.Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience presenting complex analytical topics to senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives.Ability to rapidly assimilate new topics and themes and effectively commercialize them.Proven capability to manage multiple client relationships efficiently.High level of quantitative and analytical proficiency.Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage resources (people, projects, time) effectively.Demonstrated experience in supervisory roles and teamwork.Strong business development skills with the ability to identify and close new business opportunities.A keen interest in insurance, data analytics, and risk management.Self-motivated and proactive in approach.A bachelor’s degree is required, with a master’s degree in a business or engineering discipline preferred.
