Keep reading. The Massage Therapist of Taiga Spa provides professional massage therapy for Jay Peak Resort guests and local clients. Knowledge and experience in Swedish massage, deep tissue, and sports massage are required while knowledge and experience in other modalities are strongly encouraged. Candidates for this role must be registered with the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation and possess a current professional massage therapy license or certification from an accredited massage therapy school. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned) + Maintain knowledge of services and deliver a high-quality experience with each service. + Provide exceptional massage therapy experience for clients in Swedish massage and Deep tissue massage. + Provide high-quality massage therapy up to 4-6 hours per shift with a possibility of several shifts per week. + Possess a willingness to train in Taiga Spa signature body treatments including wraps and scrubs. + Maintain a respectful environment conducive to the therapeutic work we provide at Taiga Spa. + Be of good moral character and respectful of professional/personal boundaries of self, colleagues, management, and guests as well as their confidentiality and privacy. + Adhere to dress code: Name tag and Taiga Spa uniform + Manage personal schedule to avoid conflicting with professional responsibilities of shift schedule + Maintain current massage therapy liability insurance and continuing education credits + Maintain sanitary conditions of treatment rooms during shift and support the regular cleanings of locker rooms and relaxation area as needed. + Other duties as assigned, which could be directly related, or un-related to original position SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS • Must be a registered massage therapist in the state of Vermont • CPR/First Aid preferred • Certifications in other modalities, college degrees devoted to health, wellness, and/ or fitness. • Certificate from an accredited Massage Therapy school OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Must have a minimum of 500 hours of massage therapy training from an accredited massage school with three to six months minimum experience in massage therapy. Additional training in focused modality practice accepted but not required. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. RESORT CONDITIONS This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multilevel buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Workdays and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays. WHY WORK AT JAY PEAK?
