Overview Speaks the Cherokee language with all employees of the Master-Apprentice Cherokee Language Program in a Cherokee language immersive setting. Works with advanced Cherokee language speakers to improve their ability to express abstract concepts in the Cherokee language. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Associate's degree from a 2-year college or technical school; or two years (60 credit hours) coursework from 4-year College or university; or three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT An additional two (2) years of experience in an agency or cultural organization or a related field. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should know about Accounting, Database, Internet, Inventory, Project Management, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software; and Contact Management, Human Resource, and Payroll systems. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must be able to demonstrate complete mastery of the Cherokee language, including a complete understanding of spoken Cherokee, and writing the Cherokee language in the Cherokee syllabary. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Depending on work location, may need to meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
