Maxar Space Systems is currently seeking a Lead Electrician to join our team in Palo Alto, CA.

You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment in our critical environment facilities. You will also ensure compliance with safety codes and standards and contribute to the development and improvement of our departmental strategy and objectives. You will also be responsible for basic maintenance and repairs, as well as proactive, preventative maintenance for our Bay area office buildings. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills and a motivated attitude. This individual is responsible for the maintaining work environment for the physical plant which is comprised of 14 buildings with a total of 1 million square feet of space.

Responsibilities:

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and wiring diagramsDesign and install electrical wiring, fixtures, and apparatus for lighting, intercom, alarm, and other systemsInspect, test, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and devicesFollow safety procedures and regulationsAssist the facilities manager with planning and executing capital and operational budget planningWork with colleagues to develop and implement departmental strategy, objectives, and improvement processesUse and operate building management systemsManage vendors and subcontractors to ensure quality and complianceKeep accurate and comprehensive records pertaining to health and safety, building compliance, and quality assurancePerform preventative maintenance as well as repairs to spectrum of electrical equipment including: MEP electrical interfaces and power distribution systems from utility entrance to branch circuit distribution panels, emergency generators, UPS, panels and transformers

Minimum Requirements:

Must be a US Citizen or permanent residentMinimum of 5 years of experience in electrical installation and maintenanceExperience in working with critical environment equipment such as chillers, CRACs, CRAHs, UPSs, PDUs, STSs, etc.Journeyman/Master Electrician license or equivalentMust be able to clearly communicate in English, spoken and written.Ability to be on call.Current CA driver’s license, with a clean driving record with no serious violationsAbility to travel to CA campuses as needed using the company vehicle
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Operational knowledge of electrical distribution, such as, switchgear, generators, UPS’s, PDU’s, and fire detection/suppression systems.Operational experience with data center critical infrastructure equipment (i.e., CRAC/CRAH, RTU, chilled water systems, and other HVAC applications).Prior experience working with a team of electrical, mechanical and plumbing personnel.Field experience in a Facilities environment including: Office space, machine shop, paint shop, building circuit card assemblies, testing facilities, laboratoryKnowledge of Electrical systems and controls in low voltage environments, clean rooms, and hazardous material areas.Demonstrated experience with a work order ticketing systems in creating, editing and closeout of completed tickets. Demonstrated experience in performing PMs of emergency generators, UPS, panels and transformers. Demonstrated experience in rewiring compact fluorescent light fixtures to ballast free LED fixtures. Ability to interface with contractors, technicians, managers, code enforcement personnel.

To accommodate all locations, we have listed the bottom to the top of the possible range, and will share the target range for a specific location during the recruiting discussion. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidates unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$27.00 - $57.50 hourly.
