About this opportunity:
The purpose of this thesis is to explore and identify where AI/ML-based solutions can enhance the Surface Mount Assembly (SMA) production process. The objective is to reduce manual intervention across the process, leveraging AI to create a more automated, intelligent, and cost-effective production environment.
What you will do:
Analyze the SMA process to identify key areas where AI/ML can have the most substantial impact, such as component placement, soldering, inspection, and overall process control.
Gather and analyze data from various stages of the production process, including machinery logs, inspection results, and production metrics, to develop machine learning models aimed at optimizing the workflow.
Develop AI/ML models tailored to each critical stage of the SMA process. These models could focus on predictive maintenance, defect detection, process optimization, and real-time decision-making.
Test and validate the performance of the AI/ML models within a simulated or real production environment, assessing how they can reduce manual work, improve efficiency, and increase accuracy across the production line.
Propose strategies for integrating the AI/ML solutions into the existing SMA production framework. This will include addressing potential challenges, such as technical constraints or organizational changes, and providing recommendations on scaling the solution across different production sites.
Expected Outcome
Identification of areas across the SMA process where AI/ML can deliver improvementsDevelopment of AI/ML models that optimize different stages of the SMA processDocumentation of the methodology, data sources, and the implementation processRecommendations for scaling and integrating the developed AI/ML solutions within the SMA production environmentThe skills you bring:
- Strong background in AI, ML, computer science, or a related field
- Solid programming skills
- Experience with algorithms and data analysis, preferably within industrial or manufacturing contexts
