About this opportunity
As the telecommunications industry continues to evolve, the integration of sensing and communication (ISAC) presents a transformative opportunity to enhance network capabilities and introduce new services. ISAC technology merges radar sensing with communication systems, enabling devices and networks to simultaneously communicate data and sense their environment. This proposal outlines a master’s thesis aimed at exploring innovative use cases for ISAC, with a specific focus on how new services can be implemented using the sensing data.
Project Goals and methodology
The goal of this master thesis is to propose and prototype an ISAC exposure service for a use case.
As a first step, this would require investigating the different ISAC capabilities in the 6G network: sensing capabilities, processing on the sensed data, and use cases. A second step could be understanding 3GPP specifications related to ISAC. A third step is to understand how use of sensed data combined with other mobile network information can produce meaningful information for a use case. The final step is to use the findings from the previous step to create an exposure service which may include designing a functional architecture, proposing an exposure API, and implementing it in a testbed.
What will you do
Literature Review: Conduct an in-depth review of Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) technologies, including ISAC capabilities and relevant 3GPP specifications.Service Proposal: Design a new service leveraging ISAC-sensed data along with other network information to address a specific use case.Implementation and Prototyping: Develop and prototype the proposed service.Documentation and Evaluation: Document the solution, assess its performance, and provide a thorough evaluation.
You will bring
Final year in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field in telecommunication networks.Strong skills in use case analysis, service design, API design, and data modeling.Solid programming experience; proficiency in Python, machine learning libraries, or Go is preferred.Familiarity with development in a Linux environment.
