Master thesis - Finite Element (FE) Model of Anatomical Hand
Master thesis - Finite Element (FE) Model of Anatomical Hand Master Thesis 30 credits When: Aug 2025 to Dec 2025 Location: Hybrid or on-site HQ Gothenburg Category: R&D Function: Gloves Master thesis – Finite Element (FE) Model of Anatomical Hand The goal of this thesis is to create a realistic and adaptable FE model of the human hand that can be used for various biomechanical studies, including medical simulations, and ergonomic assessments. The MSc thesis work can include: + Geometrical Representation of Hard and Soft Tissues + Develop a 3D representation of bones, skin, and soft tissues (such as muscles and fat). + Investigate different material properties for accurate biomechanical behavior. + Joint kinematics representation to allow for fingers movement. + Model finger joints as kinematic joints for realistic movement. + Implement and test different joint modeling techniques to enhance movement accuracy. + Morphing capability to have different size of hands + Develop a scalable and morphable hand model to adapt to different anatomical variations. + Simulation Method of Applying FE Model of Gloves to FE Model of Anatomical Hands + Test different simulation methods to apply FE Model of Gloves to FE Model of Anatomical Hands. The successful candidate should have an interest in finite element modeling, programming (using Python or a similar language), and simulation, with experience in finite element modeling using one or more of the following: LS-DYNA, Abaqus, as well as pre- and post-processing software such as Ansa-Meta or HyperWorks.
