We are looking for a driven and motivated student(s) interested in pursuing their Master Thesis at Wellspect R&D department in Mölndal during the spring of 2025.
About the position
Would you be interested in collaborating with our cross-functional team at Wellspect and explore the use of biobased material in medical device products? We can offer you a master thesis project containing material science, product development, sustainability and medical technology. With your material knowledge and curious mindset, you will support our engaged team in Mölndal towards making a real difference for our users.
The thesis work will include research, ideation, prototyping, material selection, concept development and concept evaluation. At our office in Mölndal you will have access to our prototyping lab and equipment for evaluating material properties. You will work together with an experienced cross-functional team including different expertise for designing medical devices.
Project description
The aim of the project is to develop a catheter using biobased materials and gain an increased understanding of the challenges and opportunities of using biobased materials in the design of medical devices.
Mapping out the prerequisites and limitations for a sustainable continence management concept. Design concepts suitable for both human interaction and manufacturing. Evaluate different materials and concepts. Build prototypes and perform laboratory evaluations. Summarize opportunities, challenges and recommendations for a way forward.Who you are
We think you are a student pursuing master's level studies in engineering with a focus on materials, chemistry or sustainability. You have a problem-solving mindset, laboratory experience from university and an interest in making a difference for both the catheters users and the environment.

The expected duration for the thesis work is 20 weeks (30 hp), starting earliest January 2025, but the length and starting date can be flexible to suit the right candidate. We prefer that the student is able to spend at least 50% of their time at our site in Mölndal.
