Job Description


SUMMARY

The Mateline Superintendent oversees all modular site-related activities, ensuring seamless coordination among the Z Modular production facility, general contractors, and subcontractors. This role is responsible for maintaining project schedules, managing material vendors, ensuring quality and compliance, and addressing on-site challenges. The position requires extensive travel and hands-on leadership, particularly in interior finishing and modular unit turnover.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Oversight & CoordinationOversee, advise, and coordinate modular construction projects from the production facility through on-site installation.Collaborate closely with project and production managers, as well as site superintendents and general contractors, to ensure projects meet specifications and QA/QC standards.Provide timely feedback to the project manager regarding any changes, concerns, or progress updates.Analyze and manage emerging issues to mitigate risks and maintain efficiency.Site & Vendor ManagementDirect all modular site-related activities to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.Source, qualify, and engage material vendors to support project timelines and cost control.Maintain and adjust project completion schedules as needed to expedite module turnover.Monitor work progress and provide daily reports and weekly summaries—including manpower updates—to the GM/Mateline Manager using the company format.Produce a three-week lookahead report using the company format, reporting to the GM/Mateline Manager.Interior Construction & FinishingEnsure high-quality interior finishes, including flooring, cabinetry, drywall, and fixtures.Supervise Mateline teams to complete interiors efficiently.Enforce compliance with architectural and interior design specifications.Compliance & SafetyEnsure adherence to all construction codes, safety regulations, and QA/QC standards.Lead and promote health and safety work practices in accordance with regulatory agencies and company policies.

EDUCATION | EXPERIENCE

7-10+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent specializing in interior construction, particularly for commercial and/or multifamily projects.Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, MS Projects), Procore, scheduling software, and CAE/CAD applications.OSHA 30-hour certification, First Aid/CPR, or other relevant construction management certifications are preferred.Any combination of relevant education and/or experience demonstrating proficiency in the essential functions of the role.Eligible to work in the United States.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is based entirely on construction sites, requiring daily exposure to outdoor weather conditions, uneven terrain, and active construction environments.The Construction Site Superintendent must adhere to safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots.Collaboration with site superintendents, subcontractors, project teams, and inspectors occurs primarily on-site, requiring a professional demeanor and effective communication to ensure smooth project execution and compliance with safety standards.Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand, walk, and navigate construction sites for extended periods.Capable of lifting and carrying materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces as needed for the project.Manual dexterity for handling tools and equipment and performing necessary on-site tasks.Visual and auditory ability to monitor site activities and ensure safety compliance.Proficiency in handling office equipment and moving around the office.
